Deleting intermediary app and re-associating contact relationships
Hi,
When I was setting up my CRM workspace in Podio, I read about some best practices that recommended creating a "clients" app to add additional information about each client contact from my main "contacts app", and then associating each "clients" with each "account".
So right now I have: one "contact" for every "client", one "client" for every "account".
After several months of use, I have realized that for our needs the "client" app is totally unnecessary and just creates an extra step. I want to delete the "clients" app and associate the "accounts" app directly with "contacts."
I tried exporting the accounts data, with the idea of re-importing the "client contact" relationship field into a new relationship field that is associated with "contacts" rather than "clients."
I was planning to do this based on last name, since this is the most unique field in the "clients" app that corresponds with the "contacts app."
However, when I export my "accounts" app the "client contact" field is populated with the client's full name! (both first and last name)
There is no field for full name in the contacts app, so I would have to manually delete all the first names to be able to import to the "last name" field.
I'm not sure how it's possible that the full name is appearing when this field doesn't exist. I can only guess that it's a hold-over from a calculation field I previously had that put together the first and last name. However, I deleted the calculation field in hopes of solving this issue. It didn't.
At any rate, maybe there is an easier way to eliminate an intermediary app while maintaining the relationship! Any advice would be much appreciated.
