Edit tasks in an item via a pop-up window

To create a task in an item, a pop-up is provided. It would be more functional to also be able to EDIT the task in a pop-up window when viewing the item. Currently you have to leave the item, make the changes in the Task screen and then use the browser's Back button return to the item. Also, if I am editing/viewing multiple items via a view, you lose the next and previous buttons and have to go back to the view and find your previous location. All of this clicking and waiting for screens to render can be time consuming when a pop-up would be more efficient.
