What's up with the new pricing?

What happened to the $9 per User?? The item limit means that if you enter leads, expenses, etc on a regular basis, you will eventually hit your limit and be stuck. I can't afford $499 a month and so will have to migrate all my data back to excel. Is Podio trying to get rid of all its small business customers?

Hi Davee, James and Erik

Sorry for the confusion :)

Podio pricing must be competitive and reflect the value delivered to our customers. To that end, we occasionally perform price testing of our current product. We use these tests to inform future pricing decisions. Therefore you see different pricing options (user based vs. item based) when visiting our website.

Let us know in a private support request if you have any further questions on your individual plans and options. You can reach us via support@podio.com or via "Contact support" in top right corner of the Help Centre.

And btw, there is no current plans to change the existing pricing model. If, in the future, we were to change the price of Podio, customers will be given ample advanced notice.

Cheers,
Sara - Podio

Stumbled on the new pricing as we were thinking about upgrading - https://company.podio.com/pricing

How can we tell how many items are in our account? (across all workspaces, apps, etc.)

Also at first glance the price points/jumps seem a bit draconian, but perhaps I'm missing something genius in all of this...

Is this based on location? I just click on the link @James White posted and it's still showing the old pricing structure...

Hi Erik,

Fascinating - if I use that link from a browser logged into Podio, I see the old pricing just as you did. If I use the link in a different browser that's NOT logged into Podio which is what I did, I see the new pricing.

Please give that a try and let us know the results.

Hi James,

I checked out the link on different browser (not logged in to Podio) and it's still showing me the $9 per user structure.

Hmmm - I would also add that for this browser - it was NEVER used on Podio's site and therefore had no podio.com cookies hanging around. If you're able to clear your Podio cookies or use a browser that's never touched the site, that would be the next test.

James

(side note 1 - what the heck have we stumbled on here)
(side note 2 - my PC has IE 8 installed for backward compatibility and that was the browser I found the new pricing on and then this discussion. My normal browser is the latest Firefox)

Hey James,

I cleared my browsers cache, cookies, app data, etc. (Safari on a mac). The result is the same. Are you still seeing the different pricing?

It seems that the websites haven't been fully updated yet. However, when I click on the wrench icon for my workspace and go to "Plan", I'm only given these options:

Free - up to 100 items
$25 monthly - up to 1000 items
$50 monthly - up to 2000 items
$499 monthly - unlimited items

Pretty huge jump to get unlimited items. This is TOTAL items, which means you'll eventually run out of space and have to move to the higher priced plan. Not very "small business" friendly

I'm not so sure it's websites updating as I see two different things depending on which browser I use - from the same PC, but who knows...

Anyway, here's a screenshot of what contactdavee posted, but I warn you, it's a little tough to look at. :)

Interesting - I wrenched the workspace and mine still states $9 per user per month.

First, Podio is just testing this new pricing structure. Some people see the pricing, some don't. I voiced my complaints to Podio about the "per item" pricing plan. This is a BIG blow to small businesses that use Podio as a CRM and to track things like expenses.

The way I use Podio, under the "per item" plan, it wouldn't take long for me to need a $499/mo plan. Podio needs to stick to some kind of "per user" pricing plan. Go ahead and double the price from $9/user to $18. Big deal... But for heaven's sake, don't bump it all the way up from $9/mo to $499/mo (which is what my price would have had to be if I had signed up for Podio during their test).

This is a big, big deal... I think Podio will get the message though.

I too see the Podio Lite / Podio Team / Podio Business pricing plans when I visit the page in two different browsers, one logged in and the other not. Workspace wrench also shows old pricing.

This is interesting. Does it mean if you see the old plans and sign up for $9 / m you get unlimited items, but if you see the new plans and sign up for $49 / m you get 2,000 items? That seems fair, lol.

We were getting ready to upgrade to the old $9 pricing, but if Podio is switching to be priced by item count, I'm just gonna stop all testing now and find an alternative. Podio is good but not $499 / month good. (And you don't even get unlimited items by paying $499 a month!)

Even if Podio promises us $9 / m / unlimited items now, can they promise not to switch to item-count-based in the future? If we move everything to Podio now and are informed 2 years later that we have to pay $4999 a month or say goodbye to half of our items, we are screwed.

I love Podio and I love paying for high-quality products and services, but this is making me rethink the reliability and ethics of Podio.
