Adding related items via API destroys current relationships

We are working with a client who is running events and we have recommended Podio and are setting that up for them. We have a Contacts app (custom made) and each Contact could attend zero or more Events. Events are a related app. We want to keep a record of all the Events that a Contact attends. When a Contact attends an Event, we want to use the API to add that Event to the list of Events that the Contact has already attended but when we update the Contact with the additional Event, it gets rid of the associations to the previous Event that the Contact attended.

I am wondering if there is an API call that allows you to add an association without destroying all the previous associations.

  Hi Robert,

  You will have to get the current state and merge the data before saving.
