Can a field be auto filled at the creation of an item?

Hey everyone!

I am hoping to decrease the work load on those entering inventories and placing orders. To do this I have set up a way that will work well but there is one hurdle I can't see to automate, the relationship I need to reference for it to all work need to be entered in every time a new entry is made, when I scale this up to the full 200+ inventory item list that is asking a lot of people to select each item to relate too.

So my question is:

Is there a way to have a new item in an app have fields (particularly the relationship field, but it'd could be applicable to other fields as well) already filled out for the app, which I would set up in the template?

  Hi Matt, I can certainly see the use-case but I don't think this is possible OOTB.
  Maybe advanced workflows in the future.

  A suggestion is to import or send the app an e-mail with the corresponding fields. I tested it and it is possible to fill a referenced field although the Podio instruction says not.

  Otherwise a third party solution like GlobiFlow could handle this easily but that's a paid extension.

  Can you give me an example of what the email would look like?

  Hi Matt,

  The e-mail is pretty simple:
  Subject of the -email become the title of the new item.
  In the body name the fields you want to address followed by a ': ' and the value of the field. Each field a separate line.

  If you need to make more then five items at once I would also consider importing an Excel.

  Or try Advanced webform for Podio. They can fill with default values. See: https://podio.com/extensions

  It seems as if Advanced workflow can't handle what I need to to auto fill, which is the relationships not just values in a number or text field. I don't see how the email would be able to create the relationships as well. Somehow I would like the relationships to be filled in either with each item referenced in a new creation of an inventory or with each item able to know a new inventory has been created and reference that inventory, I can't seem to get a workflow to do this though.
