Allow suppression of "," in number fields & other possible formats

We have fields for "Year of Inception" and an external ID, on which we want to display the number without commas. The year 2013, for example, displays as "2,013" and the ID number 67890 displays as "67,890". While we could convert them to text fields, we would prefer to keep them as numbers, but display them without commas. More generally, there may be other number formats that would be desirable in, say, countries other than the U.S., so perhaps a more general change would be to allow the user to pick from a set of number formats for display.

  YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's a major annoyance.
