    Hi all,

Thank you for keeping to challenge us on this topic. We agree that this would be very relevant, and would be something we could look at in an overall improvement to tasks. So keep your feedback and use cases coming so we have a solid argument for this feature.

It would be nice also to have the option to make labels public or keep them private. That way, you could have some labels that everyone could see, particularly on delegated tasks that can be marked "urgent", "pending client response", etc., but also have some that you use just for your own purposes.

+1 Podio really needs public labels. This is a major flaw compared to other project organizers like JIRA.

At the moment it is possible to add multiple private labels to a given task. So to prevent clutter of everyone's public labels across their business, you could provide a solution where only a small default set of public are shared. Perhaps allow configuration of 5 or 6 that are available to all. Everyone needs "Urgent", "Low-priority", "High-Priority", "Started", "In-progress" for example - so maybe just create those across the business and then allow Users to apply their private labels in addition. As a business you would need to set a standard any for sharing lables so by configuring one default set that should work.

    Hey guys

As a tip for public labels you can consider to build a task app instead for tasks with labels that should be shared within your team?

We see tasks in the top blue bar as your personal small to-dos or quick actions to get things done. If the task is "so big" that you need a category to label them "in progress" I should instead be shared in the app :)

Here is a blog post to describe how we built tasks to work in Podio: http://blog.podio.com/2011/06/10/podio-and-gtd/

Here's how you build an app:

And the fields of the app builder: https://help.podio.com/entries/21697027-the-building-blocks-in-the-app-builder

    Just a suggestion :)

For us tasks are the personell to do´s across all workspaces and projects where I´m a member. We don´t want to check in every workspace / project in a special app what to do today. Apps contains major activities and deliveries. Each of them has a couple of tasks which appears in the personell blue bars of several people. And there we still need some additional unified classifications like priority etc. => Labels !

+1 for sharing labesl, make one set of labels available to all, so that we are all using the same labels.

We were going to roll out use of tasks as a team today, but are not sure we want to do it without public labels. When we had our team discussion, we had assumed they were public, and found out in the middle of the meeting that they weren't. Prefer choice to make them public or not. In fact, how about making labels for all of the items and workspaces, and giving an option to share across items and across items in different workspaces.

Please do. I need a better way to organize tasks.

Thank you for your suggestion //Sara - Podio
But this won't solve the problem. Our team is used to looking at all tasks in the task stream from all work spaces. We're a digital agency with many active projects and tasks. Some are urgent, some really really urgent, some need certain actions and etc. And everyone in that work space needs to see that.

After 2 years we are still happy with Podio, but also still miss the public & private labels. Task apps are no alternative to your standard task functionality. Especially when your are working in several workspaces.

Thank you Bernd. I'm happy that you're able to use Podio despite your need for public labels on tasks.
I've re-shared this thread with the product team so we can review it for future improvements to tasks in Podio.

Public labels would allow us the ability to classify or "tag" tasks across apps. We'd also be able to see in a single glance what the task is connected to from our task lists and even sort by label names. Please add this option to your development lineup!

I agree that this is an important feature. I just went through 50 delegated tasks assigning priority levels before I realized the assigned person couldn't actually see them. It doesn't make sense to do anything more complicated than simply making the labels visible to all users. The suggestion of handling this in an app doesn't make sense for our needs.

    Hi Joshua,

I understand - that sounds really frustrating, and I apologize for that bad experience.

We are aware public labels is a highly requested feature and the product team is considering how to incorporate it into a larger project dedicated to improve tasks in Podio.

We will be sure to update you all as soon as there are developments in this area.

Public labels would be supremely useful, especially for assigning priority to tasks for other members of my workspace since there is no feature in the tasks function to do so. I can't even think of why labels are private in the first place...?

Wow, just realized labels aren't public... not sure how we can use Getting Things Done in Podio without this.
Tasks app is definitely not an option obviously (for millions of reasons).
