Editing comments

No additional information required, I suppose.

If this rather terse remark is a request for the ability to edit comments, then yes, definitely.  I just hit Add comment on a Deliverable because I needed to save while I answered the door.  When I got back to my desk, I found I couldn't complete my remarks.

I suppose the one caveat is that you should be able to edit only your remarks, not anyone else's.

If the API supports it, is there any way for non-developer types to implement this change instantly in their workspaces? Or would we need to hire a developer to do a lot of stuff to make it happen?

I'd love to see this too. Just fixing a typo can make all the difference in how people read your message.

I'd also love to see this implemented ASAP. I'm amazed it's not in there already.

Just to add one more reason to why I need this: I'm using PodioMail (which works fabulously, by the way!) to handle communication with contacts who are not in my workspace yet (eg new prospects). Problem with PodioMail is, it kind of messes up the paragraphing of the comment text. Being a text formating OCD me, I have to convince myself to live with it, which sucks...

Hi,

I was planning to use Podio as support for our business creation, unfortunately the fact it's not possible to edit the comment is kind of a showstopper in my case. Hope to see that implemented asap! :)

Hey Guys,

No current plans on this but we appreciate the feedback and inputs, please keep the votes coming! :)

This is like a must be function, you really have to make the comments editable.

I would also suggest sub-comments (or reply on comment) option.

Thanx

Is there any way to toggle on/off revision comments? i.e. any minor change made to text fields on the page is added to the comments stream. While this may be helpful for collaborative pages, I'd like to minimize clutter on personal pages. Thanks!

We need this too. Can't believe it's not here. I can see where it would be useful in some instances but at the least it should be a preference to let folks edit comments or not.

Totally agree, we also need the feature to edit comments. It's not acceptable that one is forced to to maintain any updates/info in the app fields (since editable), or keep deleting&adding comments after each typo or a forgotten paragraph. Please add comment editing functionality!

I've decided to ditch Podio because of this and a few other basics that have not been addressed. Bye!

+1 Having to copy, delete, and paste again just to fix a typo is annoying

1000 votes for ability to edit comments (without being a developer) -- we could do so much more with this one feature.

Just out of curiosity, why wouldn't the poster have the ability to edit his or her own comment? I don't understand why this isn't implemented in the UI.

Another vote from me. Podio has been great overall, but little quirks like this (not being able to edit a comment) really hamper efficiency and workflow.

I wonder if adding a little note that says "edited, __ hours ago" would at least make the edit feature a more plausible update from the people of Podio. I'm sure you guys know why we all want this. I really wonder what the rationale is as to why this feature hasn't been added.

Thanks for all the votes on this. As you all know the list of feature requests is very long and we have prioritized features that are more "urgent". The workaround of copying a comment, deleting and posting again is surely a bit annoying but other more product advancing features have been prioritized and I hope that you agree with this decision.

Editing comments is still on the list of nice-to-haves, so please keep your votes and feedback coming.

@Mette. This functionality is not just a "nice to have". It's a really basic function. You should move it right up the priority list. Users should't have to suffer the consequences of making trivial mistakes. (Deleting and reposting with corrections is a silly workaround. Surely there is more overhead in creating an entirely new transaction rather than simply modifying an existing one?)

It is absolutely essential that we be able to edit our comments instead of copying and pasting with corrections or additions so that all of the comments remain in chronological order. I also am requesting that this feature be moved to the top of the list.

Big bang for the buck with this one. It seems both essential and fundamental to the app. Curious why it hasn't been given a higher priority by Podio?

This must be added. It's just a basic feature.
Having to delete a comment to make a simple adjustment is really annoying.

Hi guys!

Just a small update from us - we're getting closer to a solution for editing comments in Podio. Hopefully we will have good news to share with you soon (without being able to promise a specific date or time) :-)
