Landscape support Android app

|

I'm using the Podio app on my Galaxy Tab 10.1 with a keyboard dock and on my Galaxy Nexus with a desktop dock. I would be great if you can use the Podio app in landscape mode.

Hi guys,

I have some great news for all Android app users to share today!

The mobile team here at Podio have been working on the landscape mode and we just released the first version. This includes most of your everyday locations such as the notifications, workspace, app and item views, activity stream, tasks & contacts.

This is something we have gathered many wishes and votes from you and other mobile users. So I'm very happy to announce it's now out in the wild.

Hope you'll enjoy it!

All the best,
/Charlie - Podio

Hi, I'm using the note 2014 and landscape is no problem as I use Ultimate Rotate Control from Fame It. Works like a charm.

Ultimate Rotate Control works for me as well (Thanks Ron for the suggestion!), but we should have to do this.

Google Nexus 7 with keyboard. Same challenge and frustration. I depend so much on my Nexus that having to adapt the way I use it just for Podio is a real downer for me. I'll have a look at URC, thanks Ron for the suggestion.

Podio's my only app that doesn't rotate. When charging I prefer the cord to plug in at the top where it's out of the way. Would be nice if we didn't have to clutter the device by adding another program just for rotation. Galaxy Tab2, 7".

I have an Asus Transformer Pad Infinity with keyboard dock and would also like to have landscape mode. I do not want to use special third party apps for basic functions.

Thanks a lot for your votes and feedback guys.

This is in the vision for the Android app but unfortunately not on the short term road map. There are some practical issues that we have not yet solved.

For example, for Android there is not a clear separation of phone/tablet as there is with Apple products as the screen sizes come in so many variations and that is just one of the reasons that it's a bit more complex to do this for Android.

We hope to be able to support this in the future and your feedback and votes really support the argument.

Hi everyone,

We're looking into making the Podio app better for you and we need your help to do this.

It would be a tremendous help if you could help us with developing the app by sharing your mobile use cases with these topics:

  1. What kind of mobile devices do you use? And when are you using them?

  2. To what extend do you use your mobile device for business / work purposes?

  3. What else do you use on your phone?

  4. How do you use Podio on mobile?

  5. What is most important for you to access through the Podio app?

  6. If you could have options to personalize your apps - what would this contain?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Google has added clear Material design to address size issues. It's hard to believe that this is still outstanding after over 2 years. Is it on the short-term list yet?

What kind of mobile devices do you use? And when are you using them? I use a Nexus 6 and a Nexus 7 or 9. We also have users on our team on the iOS side. All devices get daily use.

To what extend do you use your mobile device for business / work purposes? About 75% of our work is done on mobile
What else do you use on your phone? Not sure why this is relevant, but email, texting, talking and various GTD apps (Omnifocus, Todoist)

How do you use Podio on mobile? To keep track and update tasks and meetings. Also team chat.

What is most important for you to access through the Podio app? Full access to current mobile features.

If you could have options to personalize your apps - what would this contain? Ability to choose tiles/views

@Jesslyn, Thanks for your feedback - It will soon be possible to rotate the device and we are still working on making the Podio app better :)

Hi Stephan and all the people who took the time to respond in this thread!

I've recently joined Citrix and am the product manager for Podio Mobile. We really appreciate your feedback, and apologies if I'm not responding here more often.

Regarding Android and landscape mode, as Olver Wray has mentioned, this is a priority area for me and we are currently crunching away to get this out. It is going to be a couple of months still, but stay tuned.

Best,
Kuan
