We updated the Text Editor with a few enhancements today, including the option to change text color:

    Hey Bogdan,

I hear you, rich editing is pretty hard to do online though, but I see what you mean and it would be a good addition to Podio.

No immediate plans to add this though, but I'll keep you updated if there's any progress.

    Hello Gustav,

I strongly agree with Bogdan regarding the possibility to paste text & Images in Podio.

we are currently working on building references documents on different topics to improve knowledge sharing

    .

We usually collect information on the web and  would appreciate to be able to paste images embedded with text. rather than pasting urls....

Moreover, during our daily work we usually create "follow-up documents" and we find very convenient to mix text and screeshots images.

If we have to create a word document to reference it afterwards, it greatly reduces Podio's competitive advantages in term of collaboration,

--> Direct visualization of mixed content is a real benefit for users.

    Thank you

    Stephan

    Hi,

I also need this and cannot use Podio without it so have started on my own system but would much rather use Podio. Can you not use Editors by others or give people the option to do so as some editors support this on Chrome and FF as they support it already such as  http://ckeditor.com/addon/imagepaste

For me the use is in the bug app as i can post many bugs a day and use PrtSc and Paste and having to save every one to a file and then upload just isnt practical or an efficient workflow.

    Also a linked post:  https://help.podio.com/entries/23022161-Pasting-images-into-Podio-app-in-addition-to-up-upload-

    Thanks

Rich text editing is the equivalent of sending rich text emails - it's something that every business does every day. We depend on it in our marketing department to share screenshots and visuals of what we're working on what we're trying to say. If Podio is meant to be a replacement for email, then having similar functionality - particularly copy and paste of formatted text and images (or at least image) uploads is a minimum expectation of our staff. I hope that Podio will make commenting as useful and as visual as emailing or any social media activity stream (which is what Podio is seeking to emulate, correct)? Until then, I expect, we will continue to use email to supplement Podio.

I see this topic is getting more and more interest. So I'm not alone in my quest :)

If it helps, the workaround solution I've found is to use Skitch to share screenshots via online links. So if I want to post an image in a task or description I just place the link. It's definitely not the same as tasting an image but at least you don't have to save the image to your local computer you can view it in your browser

Hope this helps and hope Podio will add this functionality soon!

Thanks for the suggestion, Bogdan. I'd read about that, and will give it a try.

Same problem here ... we need rich text

We are currently in need for a wiki to share knowledge. Now, a wiki as such does not exist in Podio, though one can argue that Podio IS one big wiki. And basically, a wiki article is nothing more than a header and bodytext.

However, there's one thing missing and that is indeed pasting pictures in the article itself. Now I can only upload pictures to a post but they do not appear in the bodytext itself. This is a real necessity to create a true wiki.

    Hope Podio pays attention. Thx!

+1 for better rich text editing (including images mixed with text). Podio feels very outdated without it.

We have a pro account with about 10 users, and a Wiki is one of our essential apps. Currently, my plan is to write each tutorial article with inline images (screenshots, reference, etc) and save it as a PDF and upload it to a Podio item by the same name. This is a pretty impractical workaround, and we'd love to have inline images in the text field so that we can create proper Wiki articles right inside of Podio.

While I've got the soapbox, why not also merge the Files and Images fields into a single "Attachments" field? Podio should be smart enough to figure out when a filetype is an image and display a larger thumbnail. No need for both in my opinion.

+1 more for Rich text. Even having the limited font editing features in the case notes would be so nice. Similar to the Text section of a given item. Bold, Underline, Italics, Numbers, bullets, etc. The way the comments lump multiple paragraphs together makes it so difficult to distinguish different conversations. More separation and some editing features would be amazing!

No news on this yet? It seems this topic has died off and still no Rich Text support in Podio - think I may have to look for something else instead. :-(

  • God, years have passed but still no ability to use inline images in text fields... Why so? It just blocks us from using podio as corporate knowledgebase :(

    Podio,

Really ? This is real disappointing. We are looking for a cloud based task management system, this is such a basic and fundamental requirement (ps listen to your audience) that I have stopped using you, just as I was starting to get to grips with you as well. I hadn't spotted this before this morning, tried to ad an image to a task and realized for first time, no rich text editor.

Why on earth would you put in such an unnecessary limitation....anyways...my search goes on :(

  • Hi, Dominik!

That's great, we just stuck in development because of this issue. Waiting for Podio to start flourish again!

    Please keep us updated.

    Any news?

It's awkward that we can embed image to comments but can not on the main content.

Hey, guys, good news!! In fact rich text support is already included in Podio functionality, but is hidden! Look here http://screencast.com/t/omrElAFouL I got this result by copying and pasting an image from Podio comments into a text field. You can see embedded image here http://screencast.com/t/W6MWMUqwUL with a possibility of resizing an making it clickable. But I have no idea how to make it again w/o using comments as a source.

Why not to make a button "insert an image" if there is an image support in a text field?

Another vote for being able to paste images into Text fields. (Bonus points for being able to embed a URL that displays a remote image.)

Right, Podio said 10 months ago: "We are currently looking into different options and are testing a very promising one right now! :)"

Till now, radio silence. I have the feeling that Podio lost is focus. Not a lot of things happening anymore. Too bad. My company now can't live without it, but it becomes the 'Microsoft feeling': Can't live without, don't want to live with it :-(

Wake up Podio, be the innovator again!

    Hey guys,

No progress on this yet and no plans in the short-team roadmap. We're considering adding full support for markdown in the text editor in the future but we still haven't found a better solution.

We have been busy updating our webforms and providing new fields for the app template the last quarter.

@Erik van der Zijden, what is missing in terms of adding new functionality? We have been adding 24 significant improvements and new features to Podio in 2015: https://help.podio.com/hc/en-us/community/topics/200077273-Product-News

Feel free to let me know via sara@podio.com

    Cheers!

    Hello Podio Team

how's the progress about that? We're setting up a kind of Wiki in our Podio and therefore it would be really useful to place images within a text field.

    thx for Feedback

It's interesting that I can insert an image here in the comments, but I can't do that in a text field in Podio yet.  What's the status of this?

Those are 2 completely different things :) No plans to add this but if anything changes we will update everyone here.
