I would love it if we could set up multiple templates within an app, based on, say, catagory

I'm trying to achieve the same. Did you ever manage to work it out?

Being able to organise users in groups and inviting them as a group to view the contents of certain apps or items would also solve this issue

Hmmm.. so I gather from the comments that it is impossible to have a workspace where, say, light users or guests can view and download all content in that workspace, without being able to interact ...
