    Hi Jefferson,
Thank you for contacting us here with your request!

My apologies for the situation you are in with this question. Currently, there is the option to remove capabilities to edit at the app level, as well as creating a read-only "guest" at the item level.

Our guide to using this can be found here - https://help.podio.com/hc/en-us/articles/201019308-Creating-read-only-apps

Would this be of some use to you?

    All the best,

    Dana - Podio

I'm not sure what this means. We don't want the whole app to be Read Only. Just particular fields. For example on our project app. we have Pricing Fields, or Status Fields that we have Workflows manage. The current process is we have to have:

System Price - Hidden Field, Workflows change this field, we don't want users editing it.
System Price - Calculated Field Visible, that shows @SystemPrice info.
Status  - Hidden Field, Workflows change this field, we don't want users editing it.
Status - Calculated Field, that shows same info as @Status

This is one example of what happens and it messes up views because it creates a handful of duplicate columns we don't need. and creates unnecessary page loading. Because we can't just make System Price read only. Any basic App and CRM should have a read only option.

Jefferson - you might take a look at this for protecting specific fields in the app from changes: https://www.globiflow.com/blog/creating-an-un-editable-app.php

    Hi Jefferson,
My deepest apologies that we currently do not offer this feature in Podio. However, what I have done is to update our feature request list to include your comments and concerns with regard to it.

While we do not have an eta as to when we would expect that to be rolled into the platform, I will definitely let our development team know that this is a feature that is greatly desired and would enhance your experience with Podio.

In the meantime, kindly have a look at Bill's suggestion for a possible implementation.

    All the best,

    Dana - Podio

Bill Carovano seems like a cool work around. Although creative I'm concerned it's just another thing to track in Globiflow all for something that should be as simple as checking a box. From a user experience it still creates confusion versus just having a clean process of this field is "Read Only". We already get read only via calculated fields, Podio just needs to transfer that same behavior via Field Options.

I'm really not a fan of extensive workarounds when it can be achieve with basic Feature improvements, and I'm seeing this a lot with Podio. Just endless extensive workarounds for even the smallest of task. I have worked in a handful of CRM's / App based systems, and Podio is by far the worst. I hope they can improve this soon. I have already expressed plenty of frustration with Podio on here. Personally I think its a dead system and hopefully we can move off it this year.

Thanks for the Tip though! Will just continue to live through it.
