Workspace Contacts are no longer available in new organisations from November 24
In September 2015, we released a new Contact app as a new and better way to manage your business contacts in Podio. We are now ready to completely remove the old legacy workspace contacts functionality from all new organisations created from November 24 2016.
Please note your former "Contact" field will be called "Member" for all new organisations created from this date.
Here is a screenshot of how the "Member" field will look for new organisations created from November 24 2016:
Your existing organisations created before this date will continue to include workspace contacts and the contact field will still be called "Contact" as it allows for both members and workspace contacts.
Please let us know if you have questions about this upcoming change.

Hi Sara,
How will this effect Meeting or Event type apps? especially for existing organisations.
I love the idea, but am interested in how members will be able to set their attendence status. I've kept away from the Event type app for client meetings etc, as I didn't necessarily want them to need a Podio account to accept the meeting etc
Perhaps you could provide some additional information regarding the impact this change will have on the Event type apps. Thank you

@Tony,
Yes! It is a bit manual, but we offer the option to manually export to excel, convert app to new contact app, then import to the new fields: https://help.podio.com/hc/en-us/articles/216694357-How-to-convert-a-standard-app-to-Contact-app-type
Let us know if you have issues with this guide!
@Kent, it shouldn't affect your meeting apps in existing organisations or workspaces. This change is only for new organisations. The contact field is the same for your current apps but will be different if you create a new "company" on Podio. The meeting can still be shared with externals via "share" in the contact field in the new Member field.
Hope this helps

Hi Tony. Since workspace contacts are originally created in an app, they are probably stored in one or multiple of your apps in this workspace. You should therefore also be able to use the guide to convert from an app (or perhaps many apps, then you need to merge later manually).
Unfortunately we don't offer the option to convert from the workspace contact list page, only via the apps.

When performing massive import with excel than the Contacts app is most definitely useful, but what about those day to day additions? previously, all I had to do is scan business cards with my phone into my gmail account which is synchronized with Podio and all the details would appear. Now I have to enter them manually or export to excel and import back to Podio - not efficient and not cool :(
