Checklists and checkboxes?

Hmm, Zoltan, if I got you correctly, you could just use tasks for this. Each item in Podio could have a list of related tasks. You could have extended funtionality if it is needed: every item in a list could be assigned to a particular person, be private or public, have a deadline, a reminder and it's own comments thread. But in a simpliest way this works exactly as a regular check-list tool described by you.

I've been hunting around and haven't found any checklist apps either.

I'd like to recreate this checklist for instance as a template in Podio, that I could quickly replicate and assign to a team member for every blog post we do. Not sure how'd I go about this with the tasks function. Any ideas anyone?

I use the Category element in a template for my check box feature. It's not a checkbox but still has the on or off concept. Also, we had to create our own Task app so that we could add more fields, sort, filter, etc. There are a few good ones in the app store, including for blog tracking.

I use Trello personally so I know what he's referring to.  I would love to add a checklist in the details/description of a task.  This could serve lots of purposes but for me, it's mostly to help (through workflows) all of the little things that are required to finish a task.  Right now, I'm just adding the list but to be able to check each item off as I get them done would be amazing.  It really can be viewed too as sub-tasks to a task.

A lot of what I do for a project is a large list of tasks and then many have sub-tasks or an order of things I need to go through.  This is where checklists could really come in handy.

    Example:

    Task 1: Install software X

    • Base install
    • Install updates
    • Create user account
    • Confirm database linkage

I really hope this idea of checklists could become a reality.  By the way, task details don't allow bullet lists so I have to wing that too.

As a workaround you may use Google Chrome plugin Podio SuperMenu. Note that this will work only for users that have the plugin installed. And I'm not sure if this gonna work in tasks, but it defenitely does in items. And there are checklists in text fields among other useful things:

Eugen, I can't seem to figure out how to use that feature in the Podio Super Menu.  How did you do that?

@Stephanie Nitzel, it is pretty tricky indeed. And looks like this won't work for tasks, only for app items.

Go to http://www.bettersupermenu.com/ and sign in (authorize with your podio account). Then you will see a list of your workspaces and apps. On the right of each workspace and app there is a settings button. Among other things, here you could enable tweaks for text fields (which includes checkboxes) for a particular(!) apps. See screenshot attached:

But I'm affraid to see these checkboxes other users will also need the plugin installed, wich makes this workaround even more tricky. So I hope some day Podio team will make similar functionality available out of the box.

    Regards,
    Eugen

Out of the box would be great since we are implementing Podio with our entire staff and I don't have a great way in place to manage Chrome extensions globally.

Thank You Eugene for this information.

I did set it all up through the Podio Super Menu, including adding the settings with the Convert to Checkboxes, but how do I actually get them to do that within the app?  Is there a special set up I need to do within the app creation? How do I get the checkboxes to show and do you have to have the "list" set up as an image to make it work?

I'm so sorry to ask you this but there doesn't seem to be any set up assistance through the plugin.

    Thank you Again!

@Stephanie Nitzel, if everything is setted up correctly for a particular app, you may type [ ] (note a space between brackets!) or [x] within multiline text fields and this will be converted to clickable checkboxes. That's all I know :)

Thanks for the feedback. But I had to move on to Trello because I couldn't get stinking check boxes. Ridiculous!!

Is checkboxes being implemented into Podio Core??

Just spent 5 hours going over the whole package and the ability to create checkboxes sounds like a dealbreaker to so many people. An A grade productivity app without checkbox/list function?

I solved this checklist with my team, by adding describing my main checklist in the HELP text, in the TEXT field.

Can you help me create that checklist?
It seems that in http://www.bettersupermenu.com/ is not available any more.

Eugen Baryshnikau , Ahmed_Vistas any idea?
