App field create responses with item id and external id

Is it possible to get the external id when creating an app? Since so much of the podio to podio workflow depends so much on the external id, is it possible to return it when creating a new app field?

 

If this is already possible without requesting to GET the app after creating it and then putting the external id into a database etc. i would love to know!

  Hi Oliver,

  unfortunately there is no way of getting the external ids of the fields before creating the app. You will have to create the app and then GET it to retrieve the external ids.

  This is quite unfortunate, if you're already making a lot of requests to the API getting a field right after creating it seems like a bit of a waste?

  It is a bit wasteful, agreed, but on the other hand you don't create thousands of app every hour, or else something is wrong with your workflow.

  I will suggest this to our backend team for a future implementation, and see what comes out of it.
