Point me in the right direction?

im currently using fusion mint to automate MRIS property imports into podio, however i still have to go in and export the information manually. i found a link on MRIS for creating a feed. im pretty handy when it comes to figuring things out but when it comes to API im a bit lost as to where to start. if its something i can reasonably do on my own all i really need to know is where to start.
