    Hi everyone,

This feature is now available using the Premium plan with the advanced workflow automation option to trigger based on webhooks:

    Hey William,

This is a good question. We have currently disabled the option to trigger workflows based on excel import to ensure multiple flows are not triggered by mistake as you can import up to 20.000 items in each import, this could potentially be trigger for thousands of tasks or items created if the person importing are not aware of the workflows. We might be able to change this in the future by having a confirmation dialog before you import, but from experience we know mistakes can be done even with a confirmation dialog before action.

    Let me know your thoughts?

I think the option would be great, especially if it was an advanced setting, that way if a mistake happens it's really at the consumers risk, but this would be great for our organization as these flows just trigger alerts that things have changed (i.e. A change in the list price field during updates triggers an "update status" category to show "price drop")

Chiming in to say that i was also disappointed to learn that workflows would not trigger on excel imports. Rather than an all-or-nothing approach, perhaps podio should make this possible, but with limitations. For example, the import tool could detect how many workflows would be triggered based on the field mapping stage, and if it were below a certain threshold, it notifies the user which workflows would be triggered and gives them the option to confirm or disable workflows. If too many entries are imported, or too many fields/workflows are affected, then podio can disable all workflows automatically, if it's rate-limiting issue.

Is Podio working on ideas for this issue? I would love to have the possibility to trigger my workflows with imports. A confirmation dialog to warn from missuse might be enough in most cases. Another idea might be to restrict the import option [in case there are workflows] to certain qualified members.

Besides, it is possible to trigger workflows from items that are created by webforms, which means even externals could flood your workflows. So why should I not trust in the senses of internals?

I am also looking for this ability (run flows triggered by excel imports) please let us know if there are any updates, or expected timelines to consider.
Certain status or date fields need updated upon daily imports. I can easily do it with Globiflow, but it eats up way too many hourly/monthly actions for such simple things.

I currently ran into the same problem that we need to add multiple items at a time, but also need a task to be created via automatic workflow. It would be very useful if you could add this possibility.

That's Podio Dev Team for you! Their support team is amazing but all the improvement points that I was searching for are already proposed more than 4-5 years ago, but still no development. It is sad to see this.

I also think it is ridiculous that this feature is disabled. In the import process, I should be able to choose whether my tasks are effected or not. Or create specific import tasks... I don't know. This seems like a simple thing to enable or provide control. Between this thread and another (https://help.podio.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/200508378-How-do-I-import-tasks-from-Excel?page=2#comments), it seems like a feature that should have been implemented a long time ago.
