More space for app names in Podio web app (many names are cut off)
Right now in any workspace view my app titles are all cut off due to the small name field and spacing of the apps. Two ideas, first of course just making the field wider with a few less apps visible with more scrolling needed. Second idea would be to allow for a carriage return in the name so the app spacing could be the same but would allow for a better chance that the full name could be seen.

I'm surprised this isn't an issue that everyone is asking to fix immediately. It must be annoying to even you guys at Podio that you can't read full app names without a hover of the mouse. Imagine if you had that experience in the Windows Start Menu and all the app names were cutoff like "File Explo.." and "Microsoft W.." or "Adobe Ph..." etc.
The reason seeing full app names is so important is because they have such a specific use and the app name needs to fully describe the business process it is replacing. Also while I think you have a great variety of icons not having colors or the ability to use your own icons makes them eventually all look the same so you can't tell by icon alone. This of course brings you back to being able to read the full app name.

We can definitely see what you mean and we do have an input on it already, now with one more vote! What we've been discussing here is how to best make it appear. If you have very long app names, what space to take from. Should the apps have a longer spacing between them, or should it be more rows so the whole page then jump down a bit? What's your take on it?

I think another line for the name would be most beneficial like the Windows Desktop handles longer names.
The other option would be to allow for a vertical app bar that runs along the far left side or is included in the hamburger button. This would make better use of the horizontal screen real estate that is many times empty on the left or right side and give a little more vertical space for all widescreen users (pretty much everyone). It would also allow for much longer app names as the apps aren't side by side but stacked.

Totally agree, this would be so helpful. I suspect this is an irritation for a lot of users but they focus on their main priorities without taking the trouble to raise it here. A two-line app name, doubling the length, would be simple and effective. A slight tightening of the margins would make it possible without compromising the vertical space available below.
Thanks! -
Agreed, I'm also surprised there's only 4 votes here. Many app names don't make any sense just because we try to keep it short (having a name cut off is even more confusing for the team, clarity is crucial if you want to onboard all your team on a new management tool).
Having a second smaller line could also work, like a description (to fit 2 words), but that wouldn't be shown anywhere else.
