How to Edit the Created On and Created By fields?

Is it possible to manually change the created on and created by fields?

  Hi Waleed,

  do you mean the information like "Waleed Hashmi created this a month ago" at the bottom of the item (and in the Activity/comments pane)? That can't be changed.

  The problem with not being able to be changed, is if I do a massive import of Deliverables via CSV, then they are all "Created By" me.  This leaves Proeject Managers without the ability to filter by "Created By" to see their deliverables they have delegated. Of course I could add a field for this, but that is a horrible workaround...

  Hi Dave, this is exactly the problem I was having. I've had to create a new field and it is an unnecessary workaround and also now duplicates data. I can't see why we can't just edit the created-on field, it would be an easy update..

  Exactly, and the problem with creating this new field means that everyone has to add that to the filters for their views, and it's just a legacy field, which someday in the near future won't be relevant anymore and everyone will have to update their views AGAIN.   I was at least hoping I could update this via the API, but no go there either...
