Shared tasks?

Is there anyway to create a task, assign it to two people and NOT have the task duplicated. One for person a one for person b?

We'd like to use tasks for 'tasks' but the duplication just makes things confusing.

  We sometimes want shared tasks, but I think that for every organization that wants them, they may another one that specifically doesn't want the ability to assign a task to more than person.

  The advantage of a single person assignment is that you know definitively who is responsible for moving the task forward, even if moving it forward only consists of adding a comment and assigning it to someone else.

  Our approach is to assign the task to the person with overall responsibility for getting it done, and the @mentioning the other people involved in the description, so that they get notifications.

  I would find this feature really helpful. When there are multiple people who could complete the task, it could be completed a lot quicker without the risk of duplication if the single task could be assigned to multiple people.
