How to use the click to call feature on Phone fields with Google voice or hangouts in Chrome/Windows or ChromeOS?

Is there a way to use the "Callto:" link under the phone field to use Google Hangouts or Google Voice to place the phone call when using Chrome on Windows? I tried the Google Voice Chrome Extension which I thought should work. But, clicking on the "Call" link in Podio doesn't seem to link to it. I know this isn't really a Podio issue. But, since my company doesn't use Skype (due to the fact that Microsoft has cooperated with certain countries on access to conversations), I'm looking for another phone call tool to use for our laptop users. Has anyone found a way to click 2 call between Podio and something other than Skype?

  I have the same question.  Is there a way to use this click to call with anything other than skype?

  same question here... Can it work with something aside from Skype? we are using VOIP Studio....

  I have the same question, and tried the same good voice extension. I think I am going to search the google voice help too, and see if anyone is discussing it there.

  My apologies for not realizing this sooner, however, you can change the telephone field to use a different method. The choices are "tel:" and "Callto:" and you can get to that by editing the application's template.

  Thank you Dana for replying! Unfortunately the article was not helpful, in that it just gives the most general data about connecting the call to button, but does not explain how to get that to work with google voice. I want to connect my VoIP from Google voice directly to my Podio, and also connect texting to Podio, but there doesn't seem to be a way.
