App level permissions and Field level permissions - any update?
Hi, I have seen many questions/requests on App level permissions and Field level permissions in Podio, rather than only Workspace level permissions (which Podio currently provides).
Potentially losing many opportunities due to lack of this.
Is there any news on this feature for upcoming releases?
Thank you.

Hi Basabraj,
It is not on the current roadmap. As Podio is a collaboration tool built on transparency, it takes a larger restructuring of basically everything to add more leveled access control. If you like you can cast your vote to the request here: https://help.podio.com/hc/communities/public/questions/203575096-More-user-access-controls?locale=en-us

Real shame this is not on the roadmap and Podio may lose a lot of custom to other platforms because of this. Permissions is not about removing transparency at all but just an essential tool as part of good workflow practice. For example a purchase order that requires sign-off authority from a more senior member of the team (someone who has budgetary oversight), or an expense item that requires the accountant to authorise (as per Podio example in the demo workspace), or just to avoid user errors by locking-down certain fields to avoid their status inadvertently being changed. Think of it more as tracking and traceability, good housekeeping.

Hey Jon,
We actually already have a feature to help solve the problem you describe, we have a full revision log (item activity) to help you overview changes and revert back if a team member changes a field by mistake. More on the revision log here: https://help.podio.com/hc/en-us/articles/201019738-Item-Activity
Hope this can help!

Just to add context: we're a small company who is starting to grow a lot through world wide exports. I'm in charge of structuring the organization to make it more reliable on a global scale and chose Podio to start the process because of its flexibility and ease of use. However this kind of issues (app and field level user permissions) are coming up already in the first discussions about the app.
I can see us using Podio for a year or two, but notwithstanding its advantages we won't be able to keep going further with it unless progress is made on user permission and we'll (unfortunately) have to switch to a more structured software, since security and access control start to become a priority with more and more employees.
