    Hi Mark and Henrik,

Thank you for your input and for challenging us on this topic.

We are aware that there is demand for this feature and to be honest with you we have not implemented it for two reasons:

    1. We have simply prioritized other features like advanced calculations and specialized workflows
    2. We are considering the best use case for "share an app" to comply with best practices for this feature. For example, could "share app" be "share view" instead to make sure that you're sharing the relevant information from the app instead of the whole app. What do you think?

It would be great to hear your use cases for how you would benefit from this feature so we can take this into consideration in the further development of this area.

If you would like you can also cast your vote for the feature here: https://help.podio.com/hc/communities/public/questions/200779218-Share-Whole-App-With-People?locale=en-us

In my case, the shared view will be fine. I often have to create two workspaces for each case, as cases often contain confidential material. One workspace contains the confidential information, the other workspaces contain general information. By having two workspaces the users who have access to both workspaces are often confused because they can not figure out where to look for the desired information - and this is not the Podio way! A solution where in The workspace can assign items alternative apps for groups of member  will be able to solve the problem.

The Shared view would be Ok, however sometimes some of our protocols require us to move items (Deliverables) to the next stage by our internal staff and our Subcontractors (Freelancers).
For the most ultimate experience and to make Podio absolutely the most powerful to that it could be, we would suggest the feature to be able to view and to share ONLY "Apps".
Also, it would be crucial if admin users could Lock individual fields in an Apps.

Awesome Mark, thanks for your feedback. Getting more details about your use case really helps us get an overview of the background for the feature request and thereby better argument for implementation.

I came here hoping to find out how to share and app with an external user (non-employee), too bad it's not possible! Our company just signed a contract with an external service provider and we need to share a Students Contact Info data base with this provider but we don't want to invite her to our whole workspace as it contains confidential information such as payments, purchase orders, even our clients data base!

How helpful it would be to grant her "Reading Only" access to this Contacts App without risking our confidential information!

For me it's sharing a View that would be the most beneficial. I want to be able to create specific views for different sets of people - they do not need to edit projects but they do need visibility.

Yes, this is important as well. I hope this gets added soon.

    +1

We would use this so we could have one workspace and share apps with different teams instead of creating workspaces for each team.  It would be much neater and less clutter to put everything in one workspace, but then we'd be forced to share items on a per item basis, which is the kind of tedious work that Podio should help prevent.

Is this still the same case unchanged? I would love to be able to share a read only view and and edit capable view. I have employees and outside sources collaborating on work where this access to an app is critical, however other apps in the workspace are full of highly private information that should not be accessible to certain employees or partners. It is a lot of work to move apps and information to another workspace, and leaves a confusing split in where to find things with multiple workspace that really should be one.

Did Podio ever implement this request.  I see the request has been around for 6 years and that the time the dev team was busy working on other priority items which is understandable. I am hoping after 6 years this ticket made it up to the top of the scrum board and has been completed.
If it is a case where this feature can not be added could you please update this thread and give us any possible work arounds.  The feedback here will be greatly appreciated.  Thanks

I am seeing that this request is not being implemented by Podio and a lot of people seem to be wanting this. I am a Podio developer and can come up with work around solution for this, but the question is how many of you will be willing to pay for such a service? If the interest is high, I can start working on this. Let me know!
