Avoid duplicate items when using a form
We use our Podio account to house our "Sphere of Influence" (SOI) from which to pull our tasks for our real estate business...every day, we contact X amount of people from our SOI with the goal of converting them to a buyer or a seller. Up front, we manually enter the contact information and take relevant notes about that contact, create tasks, etc...but we have also created a webform using the fields from that same app because when we find someone interested in being our client, we want them to tell us the criteria they're looking for (bedrooms, baths, square footage, etc)
The problem we're experiencing is that when a potential client fills out the form on the website, in addition to the NEW information we want to find out about their real estate desires, they're also entering their name, phone number, etc...a bunch of info that's already in our system...therefore creating a duplicate item.
Is there a way to do either of the following:
1. Introduce validation by which Podio checks to see if an item already exists with the same name that the person is entering?
2. Merge information from two items together
??? Thanks!

Hi Joe,
it's not possible to check new entries for existing duplicates with Podio alone. You would need the Podio extension GlobiFlow https://podio.com/extensions/2. On the GlobiFlow-Blog you find an example how to do that. https://secure.globiflow.com/blog/prevent-duplicate-entries-in-podio.php You could also merge existing items rather easily with GlobiFlow. And I can tell you, it's worth every penny :)

Podio: Would it be possible for you to just fix this by just disabling the button for additional clicks on click, or any other way? We have duplicate content (most often 2-4 duplicates) in every app where users add data with your standard webform. This happens even on supported browsers.
