Restore app field / external ID

When a field is deleted from an app, either from modify template or API, the external ID seem to be unusable forever. If I create a new field with the same name it, adds -1, -2, -3 ect regardless of the external ID being available or not. I understand the need to add a number if the same external ID is used, but not when it has been deleted and cannot be used.

I can see that the field is deleted through the API but I cannot restore it. Is there any way to make this possible? It would be very useful and save us a lot of work as we have a lot of code using the external ID.

  Hi Anders,

  Unfortunately it's not possible to restore a deleted field. You can create a new field and use the API to migrate values from your deleted field to this new field. The external_id will of course change.

  If fields cannot be permanently deleted, but can also not be restored - what's the point of keeping them in the database?
