    Hey everyone!

As Ben and Jeff have noted, we are very excited to announce that calendar coloring is now available! If you haven't had a chance to check it out yet, you can read about it here:

    https://help.podio.com/hc/en-us/articles/231720287-Color-coding-your-calendar-events

We've been working very hard on these calendar improvements and we hope you like them! If you have any feedback please feel free to share here or write to us in a private support ticket :)

    Cheers,

    Jacquelyn - Podio

Thanks for the input Jesper, we're currently looking into the option to customize color in calendars using the app template but haven't found the perfect solution yet. We might find a good solution later this year!

It would be great if this could be determined by an assignment to a PODIO variable in a calculation

@//Sara - Podio: Another vote for more display options with calendar entries.

I would particularly welcome options to change color based on another factor, such as the option selected in a category field. For example, to indicate the status or location of an event.

I'd really like this. It could be as simple as making the calendar color mirror the color of a category field.

Any update on the solution for calendar color coding? i work with 4 agencies on podio with 30+ accounts, this feature is a must to help organize the clutter. looking into different color options to i.e. start date and end date is also helpful to differentiate for example launch dates and end dates.

    Hi Lyad,

No updates at this at the moment I'm afraid. For this scenario, how about viewing the items in your app in calendar layout and use the filters to show one customer at a time? Can that help?

I still definitely understand the request of visual colours in the calendar and it is something we have conducted some tests on. We have just not reached a point where we all happy about it and are therefor letting it brew a bit. We are also constantly tracking customers requests so please keep on voting and sharing your feedback. It counts!

    +1 !!

Not being able to color code your Podio calendar really disappoints me. Come on, Podio, you're so cool in many other areas.. Why not this simple one? Do better, please!

    Hi Jonas and Emil,

Thanks for adding your votes on this! I would be interested in hearing a bit more about how you'd like the colour coding to work more specifically. That will help us to understand your use case better and it will contribute to our discussions here internally.

Look forward to hear more from you :-)

Hi Charlie, as an example, I use iCal on all of my devices and I use the color coding as a means to differentiate between internal meetings, external meetings, private stuff, vacation, etc.

Is there any update on this? We could really use this function!

While you can't color code in calendars. If you "Add label" color to a task- the task will display will that color when you go to calendar view.

    +1 to this too.

A use case from an editorial standpoint: a content item can have a deadline and a separate planned publication date. I don't want to have only one show up on a calendar. So with the workspace calendar now, all we see are two instances of the same content item that show up on different days as the same color. There's no way, in the calendar view, to show a difference. It looks like an error and confuses people.

Would luv to see this as well. We have 3 workspaces/programs feeding into one master calendar and can't see the difference between them.

    Any updates??

Most basic use case: differentiate color based on selected category field. They are already color coded (when inline), just need to port the style to the calendar view!

    Still no update @Podio?

If you could select which "Category" field to use to select the colour in the calendar at an app settings level, then you could configure the colours in "Modify template" . That should make sense in most contexts.

I agree with Luca and Scott. Just mirroring the category colours would be a great leap forward!

My organization would also be interested in this. We would like to see different colors based on one of the category's color. EG items marked as "promising leads" category show in green, items marked as "negotiating" as orange, and signed as "Red". Same goes with our marketing campaigns - a color different color for "In Design" , "Circulating", "Finished". That way its easier to tell what phase a project is in.

Ditto!! Come on... we're looking at 18 months since this request, folks.

We're using an app for event marketing. There are several dates per item.

    1) The event date
    2) Date of the first invite
    3) Dates of 2nd 3rd and 4th invites... etc.

All of these on the calendar in one color is just crazy making. Just add color labels like you do for categories within the item. Why should this be an 18-month head scratcher?

This seems far too easy to implement for it not to be present. Even the most basic implementation would be extremely useful.

  • Hi everyone,

This one is planned in our current roadmap - no timeline or ETA just yet.

Thanks for adding feedback and use cases!

From our perspective, it would be ideal to allow the color to be set by a "Category" field. By clicking on the Category view, you could see color code by that Category. Please keep us updated on the release date; we can't wait to see this implemented!

Has this been solved yet? This is huge to me as I look to manage multiple project pipelines on one calendar.

    another +1 from me, too.
I use calendar to track projects and sub-tasks in Projects. It would be already very helpful if i could have a different color by project.

Another option is to set the color by tags somehow?!?

Use case will be in the main calendar overview where different types of meetings/dates (sales meetings, trainings, project deliverables) are visually nearly IMPOSSIBLE to visually separate. Would indeed be as easy as using the category coloring used in the entry.

It is basic functionality to have color coded calendars and entries depending on a category color. As an example, if the application is for managing Out of Office requests and a request is approved, then ok to have a green entry on the calendar. But if it is cancelled, then either I am willing to have it with different color or to give the ability to remove it completely. It seems that there is no actual calendar integration. It just checks if there is a field of date in an app and inserts this field into the calendar. Nothing else. After implementing this functionality, it would be important to have options on what fields of information the calendar entry should show.

I hope you take it seriously because most of the functionality that Podio provides is related to the database entry flexibiltity. Without additional internal workflows and workflows available to the customers it is getting more and more difficult to get advantage of the database entries.
