Removing "Tasks" App from Podio
AnsweredThe default "Tasks" app is deeply integrated into Podio - however, this becomes a major issue for users who are using custom/advanced Tasks apps. For example, we plan on creating our own "Tasks" app as we need alot of custom fields, however, this create a very confusing user experience (especially for new users) to see two tasks app.
We've had many people tell us they didn't think they had any tasks assigned to them, however, that's because they were looking into the default tasks app. Is there a way to turn off the default Tasks app?

Hii Jeremy,
This problem (showing the build in tasks) today has passed my mind at least three times when working/developing with Podio. Something like "Damn why is Podio so stubborn on this subject" as the presence of the tasks everywhere is indeed VERY VERY annoying. Many people (me too) have asked the feature to disable tasks just like adding files or tags can be disabled. To me it is a complete mystery why this is yet not implemented.
You got my vote but I fear it's not enough. -
Ron,
I completely agree. It would be nice to be able to disable the tasks app in certain areas as well. For example, while I may want to assign a "Task" to a project, I don't necessarily want to be able to assign a task to a "Deliverable". It becomes very confusing for new users to decide where to lists new tasks and what to assign them to.
This is the primary reason we want to use our own "custom" Tasks app - but the integration with the default app also creates a very confusing experience for new users.

The best way to deal with the current situation is to explain users that the Podio tasks are meant for short actions to be completed within about 30 minutes. Short of todo.
The tasks app is for projectmanagement or tasks that have longer times and or extended resources.
This is the way Podio sees it. Though it would be better if the build-in tasks would be called 'todo'.
