Ability to merge records in Podio

    Hi everyone,

A small update - since last time, GlobiFlow is now a part of Citrix Podio and no longer an extension. You can use GlobiFlow to check for duplicates and therefore easier avoid the need to merge records.

This feature is therefore not planned in the short-term roadmap. We hope the duplicate check in GlobiFlow can help improve the data records.

Thanks for your feedback as always!

    Cheers,
    Sara - Podio

    Hi Vardan and Podio team,

Can you please update whether this feature has made it into a development timeline. I agree with Natalie that this feature is really important.

Finding duplicates and merging them is super complex and to a degree can't even be done within Podio and exporting/importing data to clean it isn't satisfactory.

    Thanks, AH

This is the single missing piece from being able to use Podio as a full CRM. As a user, I want to select two or more items and merge them (including relationships, comments, tasks, files) so that I can maintain one set of contacts. This would be incredibly valuable.

I would like to add my vote for the ability to merge duplicate contacts!  This is a major issue for us.  Is there any update on when this will be available?

This request has been made 2 years ago, and still no solutions! It must be quite a big disappointment for everyone here!

Any news on this feature? Seriously, an inability to merge records is a massive oversight in a tool that promotes itself as being a CRM. Podio is a great product, we love using it, but I'm genuinely pretty amazed that this doesn't seem to be considered an important feature.

    Hi
Thanks for your comments guys @rainer ideally we dont want to use an extension as a) we feel it is a standard functionality in CRM and b) we are not a huge company so do not want to have lots of little add ons here and there as this will just get more complicated over time as we grow and develop.

Podio, is there a particular reason why this feature hasnt been developed as it would be so valuable as @allen fuller comments also?

    Many thanks
    Natalie

    Hi Podio Team,

Has this feature made it onto the dev roadmap with a timeline?

I would like to support this feature request to make it standard Podio feature. It would help to maintain our data quality by making the process more accessible and a lot easier for our users w/o having to depend on 3rd party support.

    Many thanks!
    SK

Cumbersome, but a possible solution. Advanced workflows that take your webform entries and update your 'other records in other apps'.

I agree the flexibility to not just link via relations but manage where data points go (update) or automatically 'merge' would be critically powerful. As a Whole Systems Designer and Data Specialist that onboards large databases for companies my abilities would increase 10 fold. Still love ya Podio.

Edit - I wrote a workaround based on my misreading of the problem.

Looking back I now agree that this is a silly problem to have in an application that is essentially just lots of database tables and records.

    Questions:

    1) Why can't we sort by and do a count report of email address in a contacts app? - This would at least make it easier to manually eliminate duplicates.

    Hi Sara

    Thanks for the update.

(skipping over the fact that GlobiFlow is integrated but only as a paid for / premium feature....)

I'm not sure how checking for duplicates solves this problem, it just helps highlight records that need to be merged, which you still can't do. Am I missing something?!

I guess I'm still pretty astonished that, given the nature of the product and underlying data, merging records doesn't seem to be considered an important feature, it seems pretty essential to me. Hey-ho.

Having said that, we think Podio's a great product and has a great team behind it, so thanks and keep up the good work (and please consider adding this functionality :-)

    thanks!

    Hi guys

I'm revisiting this / commenting again just to continue to emphasise (what I believe to be) the importance of this.

Podio's a great tool and we're very happy with it overall but the absence of this feature continues to cause us major headaches.

You're continuing to promote the use of Podio as a CRM and I can say with confidence that the ability to merge records is an absolutely basic feature of any CRM.

As Paul says, this does seem bit of a silly problem to have in an application that is essentially just lots of database tables and records.

Really hoping you guys are going to address this....

    Thanks

Hi Sara, I agree with Richard's comment above. Podio is a great platform that serves our projects well every day. However, this is a core feature of a data management platform, especially one that bills itself as a solution for CRM-type needs. The GlobiFlow workaround is completely inadequate. Without the ability to merge records, Podio is incomplete and inadequate for many use cases. I very much hope the product team will re-evaluate their decision. Thank you!

    Hi Sara,

I've signed up for premium account and got access to it, however it's frustrating to see there aren;t any training videos for globiflow, there are so many features are actually useless if we can;t use it, there are third party companies like podiozen selling their memberships due to lack of training stuff from Citrix

Hi Sara, is there any news regarding merging?

For many, me included, momentumtools is not an option. For one, having to add on all kinds of adons from third parties is unreliable, a potential risk, and in this specific use case would ad a 20 $ monthly cost just for merging (their free tier only supports bulk edit, not merge..).

Merging items in a database-system should be mandatory, and my guess is that almost all of your competitors deliver this out of the box.

    Just my 2 cents.

this is crazy that after 4 years of people requesting this that it is still not even considered being added to Podio. can we have an update as to what is going on. this could take a programer a couple weeks to write the code. What is the delay? and why is this not a priority with so many requests. has a timeline been set for this development yet?

Is there any update on this feature? I think its a very important one for a lot of users and we don't want to have extentions for everything.

It's sadly clear to me, after being a podio user for nearly three years now, that Citrix really just doesn't care about quality of life updates on this product. Rock bottom basic features like this and others (like being able to add a simple line break in an app, grant access to certain users to specific apps vs an entire workspace, disabling the employee network, etc) have threads that are years long with the same canned response from the moderating team that "blah blah blah blah - we'll pass it along to the dev's."

So the only options to deal with dupes in your CRM are to export the entire app, remove dupes in excel, then reimport...or use some cockamamie Globiflow workaround, or a third party browser plugin (because that's real secure) that apparently has figured out what you can't/refuse to OR go through each dupe, one by one, and copy/paste info from one field to the other...field by field.........................

    Ridiculous.

Hi Podio team, I have been looking for a CRM and am currently a free member trying this out. My main criteria for my CRM tool is to find a tool that will manage multiple lists and merge them. Is there any possibility of including this? Since it's been requested 5 years and not implemented I guess this is not a priority for Podio. It's really too bad, it's such a basic feature for a CRM tool.

You can also use the Podio extension GlobiFlow for it https://podio.com/extensions/2

In some use cases it's possible to merge the content of several items via calculation fields, Depends on the setup of your apps and your workflows.
