Is it possible to set time duration of a task in Podio Calendar and have overlays?
Hi Podio Team,
I just noted that the calendar in Podio only shows at what time a task must be delivered and I didn't manage to set in a task a duration of let's say 5 hours on a specific date - where then let's say on Monday it will cover up the area of 8am - 13:00.
Is it possible to do this or do I need to set this possibility within the apps creation process?
And second question would be if the calendar can handle overlays or several tasks that fall on the same hour?
Sunny regards from Mauritius,

Hi,
I see that it is somewhat possible.
It depends on the date setting of the created apps if a tick is placed to show project/event in calendar.
It will also cover up the time set as a layer.
Differentiation here is that tasks will only show up in calendar on the time they must be delivered.
Does Podio consider feasible in the future to offer the possibility also to set a period of time for a task? That would be great! Plus also to have different colours. -
Is there an update on this? Duration is such an important part to plan your time and the time of your team. As it sets expectations to how long something should take and you reflect back on it to see how long it actually took (hooks nicely into time tracking on tasks - but that is a seperate feature request).

Hey Daniel (again!) :)
No update from Podio, we still recommend using a task app: https://help.podio.com/hc/en-us/articles/201038678-Using-an-Actions-app-for-tasks

I want to bring this issue back to the fore.
One of the best way to manage tasks is to schedule them in your calendar.
This is only semi-possible in Podio because tasks have a set, unchangeable default length when shown in calendar. Yes, a task app could be used, but it takes much longer to create a task in an app, AFAIK they don't work across workspaces and you can't simply check a box to mark them done. Apps are great for activities within a projects, but not for individual tasks that can be completed in a day.
It would make a huge difference to how I use Podio if there could be a task duration. It would keep me in Podio rather than bouncing off to Google Calendar where I schedule my task work currently.

A "task app" is not adequate. Podio needs to make a few small changes to be a really useful task management tool. See a thread on this topic here.
