Is it possible to 'view more' tasks on a project page?
PlannedHey everyone,
I just noticed that on a project page... some of the tasks assigned to a particular project are not being displayed. It seems, maybe, that when there are many tasks, the lowest ones in the list (in this case, recently added tasks without a due date) are hidden. I can view them when viewing my main tasks page, but the only way I can tell that I can track them down to the particular project they are assigned to is by using my browser's on-page search functionality (after continually scrolling to the bottom to load everything).
So, my question is... does anyone know of a way to view all tasks assigned to a project? Is it possible to do this from the project screen? Is this potentially a bug?

Hi Dean and everyone following this post,
I am curious for a few more details in order to understand how to best solve this in the product:
What would be the ideal number of tasks to show as max (giving there is not filter or search option within the list of currently 50 tasks) - do you need 100 - more/less?
Would it help to be able to sort/change order to view open tasks first?
Would it help to be able to hide completed tasks?
Just for this one we want to make sure not to just add a longer list that is difficult to scan through but actually make the view useful by default.
Please let us know your thoughts!

Hey Tim,
We currently have a limit of related tasks to display on each project - so unfortunately this is a known limitation.
If you have many tasks related you could perhaps create an app to manage them and link to the project via a relationship field?
For example, we use an app internally called "User stories" to manage deliverables in our product development. Each user story have related development tasks from an app called "Development tasks" and we use this task app to break the user story (or project) in smaller pieces.
Cheers,

Thanks for your reply Sara. I might need to look at creating an additional app then.
I guess it is just a little disappointing that there is no link to 'view all tasks' or something of the sort - and also that it is unclear that only a subsection of tasks are being displayed. I only found this out by realising I'd forgotten to complete tasks... because I didn't know they were there!

The issues with using an app for tasks is that:
1. Tasks are no longer displayed in the calendar when they are complete. An app item will remain in the calendar unless you remove the date, which is needed for historical reporting.
2. App items can't be recurring.
3. Tasks are easily added using the T keyboard shortcut, which is very useful for quick additions to the task list
I'm a LAMP stack developer, and I cannot think of a valid reason why task pagination is not possible. Related items is paginated, there would be no additional load for task pagination.
We could possibly handle this if there wasn't an API limit as well. But there is.
Is this poor programming? A developer who doesn't understand the real world? Laziness? What's the go Podio?!?

I have found that the API for Tasks lets you filter by completed or not. This is good for developed apps, and shows that someone at Podio has thought about this. Therefore, if the infrastructure is in place, then why would this filter not be available in the task view within an item?

After being a paying customer for 3 years, only today I have come to learn about this limitation. I share the frustration with Tim and totally agree with Jon from developer standpoint.
I'm more perplexed to find out, after two years, this issue is still not being dealt with! So have we been paying monthly subscription fee for mere cosmetic improvements?

Hi Sara, I'm really glad that you are looking into this.
This is how I would suggest...
- You may continue to display 50 tasks. Though I feel there is no need to display completed tasks. So when a task is checked off, it disappears to make room for next uncompleted task.
- When there are more than 50 uncompleted tasks, we can click the "View all related tasks" link at the bottom, which brings us to the current "Tasks" page (https://podio.com/tasks), except, we will be looking at all tasks associated with the said item only.
- If you can make this happen, it will mean we will be able to filter tasks by app item, and I believe your customers will be more than delightful to hear it.

Hi Sara, any updates on the issues raised by the majority, in particular by Dean. Great solutions there:
- You may continue to display 50 tasks. Though I feel there is no need to display completed tasks. So when a task is checked off, it disappears to make room for next uncompleted task.
- When there are more than 50 uncompleted tasks, we can click the "View all related tasks" link at the bottom, which brings us to the current "Tasks" page (https://podio.com/tasks), except, we will be looking at all tasks associated with the said item only.
- If you can make this happen, it will mean we will be able to filter tasks by app item, and I believe your customers will be more than delightful to hear it.
Many thanks and hope to hear from you!

Hi!
Are you currently working on this feature? We have recently upgraded our Podio Subscription and this is a very important feature for us. We have a lot of tasks and not being able to see all of them within an item makes it impossible to work with. The most basic feature would be to at least see all the tasks within an item. A hide / show completed tasks would great.
Most importantly we do not want to divide an item into milestones since we would lose the overview of the whole project . We just want to be able to see all tasks within an item at the same time.
Best Regards
Magnus
