How well does Podio scale?

My personal opinion is that Podio scales very well. I love that Podio lends itself to iterative adoption. We started with a small part of our company & processes, and now have everything that's not accounting or security related in Podio. We have around 20 workspaces, 150+ apps, and also archive old projects. I've also seen that some of our customers (Podio users) have hundreds of workspaces in Podio, and have not heard complaints from them.

    Hey Ryan,

It might help to add that we're the largest Podio user and customer internally, having the entire Citrix organisation with 10.000 plus employees onboard - it does scale quite far in our experience.

Thanks both. Internal case studies don't count :)

@Andreas - On average how many workspaces do each of your team have? How does the Podio UI hold up when it is more than just a few workspaces?

The UI holds out fine. Sometimes it's cumbersome to move around. For this we often use markdown links in app descriptions to take us to related apps with one click, and this is also why I developed the super menu (www.bettersupermenu.com) to be able to get one-click access to favourite and/or most-used workspaces and apps.

    Haha, good point!

Here is a case study from Educational Services of America, using Podio for both staff (1500) and students in 21 states and 230 schools: http://blog.podio.com/2012/11/29/esa/

    Hi Ryan,

for what did you opt for finally? Will be great to read of your final choice - and why.

I ultimately chose not to use Podio and to stay with Teamwork.com. At the end of the day, I didn't think Podio was scalable for an agency, and it had very basic time tracking which is critical for us. Podio is likely great for business processes that need to be automated, but I haven't seen a good example of an agency, that is very process heavily on a bunch of different deliverables that it applies to. Waiting to see what the agency version looks like, but we will likely also consider more traditional agency management software at that point as well.
