Adding X Hours to a Date Field

I want to add 3 hours to a date field so it will calculate the date and time 3 hours from the date field, I tried a few different codes with no success...help please!

  while searching for answers, I finally have this  
  new_datetime = moment(original_datetime).add(3,"h);
