How to add relation field into an application ?

Hello,
I'm using you PHP API to develop integration. I'm creating an application via API which contain a reference field (app) .
I've tried to pass the app id and some config while creating the field. The field is created but didn't added the reference (another app in the same workspace). Can you guide me that how to add reference in PHP API. TIA

  Are you creating an app or an item within an app? App reference fields reference individual items, not entire apps.
