Hi Rene,
There isn't a way to edit existing tags - you'll just need to type in the new tag instead. Just note that this would remove some reporting options, if you wanted to report based on the old name and the new name.

I'm in the same boat, I want to be able to access new tags without having to type, so directly in the drop-down list, there are several old tags I could hide or delete from this list, so yes, I'd definitely want to be able to do so. If I can get rid of the tags I no longer want I don't have to start to type, select and then wait, I can just select the tag I want and move on, making me more efficient.

I also have a situation where tags are necessary at one time, but I want (actually need) to delete them later on. Just tagging my new items with new tags is ok for 50% of the problem...but we use a pre-saved filter that is Split By tags, and that list is far too cluttered with all the old and no longer relevant tags showing up.

Personally, I'm not interested in reporting regarding tags, I'm interested in efficiency of entering the tags in the first place. Maybe you could give us an archive function which ensures that the tags we don't want popping up in search suggestions don't get shown there and you don't loose that reporting function for whoever wants that.

Thanks Kelley, but that's not what we're struggling with here.
You are correct that changing the tag on an individual item is an easy and super useful feature! But the issue here is with the back end database storing tags used in the past. When we try to enter a tag, or report using tags, the full list of all tags ever used show up as options, requiring us to be very specific on spelling out the tag we are looking for so it appears as an option. Many of the previously used tags are now obsolete clutter. We wish we could remove them from the 'tag database' if you will. This would make ongoing organization using tags much more efficient.

Hi,
I'll try to share my experience.
I think that the only way to remove tags from the "tags list", is to remove the tag you want to remove from ALL the items tagged with it. This, considering that tags are specific for each app (that means that you can have the same name for a tag in different apps, but it's not the same tag)
Doing that is the only way i succeed to remove the tags
Jordi
