Collapsible Sub-Categories within Apps
It would be great if we were able to create sub-categories within individual apps that could be hidden/revealed with a click. In much the same way that you can currently hide empty fields (and conversely, reveal them with a click).
Our team uses Podio as a central hub for all of our main processes and we primarily service the hospitality industry. We have an App simply titled 'Properties' where we track our sales process, specific items from our installation process, some maintenance items, along with long term client information needs.
Multiple apps for these items you say? This is not the best option in this scenario. While we do have apps for Installations and other major projects, there are certain key items that need to be centrally located for the purposes of a service record. Unfortunately, there isn't a good way to logically separate these different items within an app. If we could define which fields are displayed within a sub-category, and give the sub-category a heading, it would dramatically improve the usability of Podio.
My apologies if this has been suggested already, I didn't have any luck finding a similar request...

Hey Garrett.
We have this one listed internally but no short-term plans for a fix. Thanks for sharing!

There's another thread with the same request: https://help.podio.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/202202208-Collapsible-Sections-in-an-App?page=1#community_comment_207954478
I'm posting here again in hopes that this may be revisited by the Podio dev team! This feature would be very, very helpful to our team. To anyone following this, I encourage you to up-vote the other thread as well.

Hi Sara,
Any further updates on this request? Perhaps a stop-gap that could be implemented sooner would be the option to hide populated fields rather than just empty ones..? Those fields could then be revealed in the same way that hidden fields are currently displayed, with a simple mouse click.
EDIT: I found a couple of suggestions for this elsewhere ;)

@Sara - is there a development roadmap that is shared with the community? Perhaps quarterly or even yearly? There are a few key features that are very apparent are needed (and confirmed with the community). Even many of the community team members who have advanced knowledge of strong organizational skills in Podio through single apps, app relationships and sorting views.
Expand/Collapse would be an essential component, or even the ability to manually enter additional code in the Calculations field to achieve this.
Can you let us know on the roadmap plans?

@Chris, we do not share roadmaps in public, however this is not planned for the short-term. Our focus this year is really performance, to ensure a faster and more reliable Podio in the future: https://blog.podio.com/2018/01/10/2017-year-in-review/

Hi Team Podio
Quick suggestion on this one as we would also love to see collapsible fields.
Can you add an "action" in globiflow that changes the "always hidden" status of a field in a podio app. We could then use a category field to trigger a globiflow action which hides/unhides certain other fields.
For others who really want to find a way around this, what you can do is duplicate all fields with a second field that is always hidden and setup Globiflow to update the second field when the first is changed. Here is a quick example.
Field A - category field with options "Hide" and "Unhide"
Field B (set to "hidden if empty") - User puts input here
Field C (set to "always hidden")
Globiflow 1 - when user edits Field B, set Field C = Field B
Globiflow 2 - when "hide" is selected, set Field B = blank (make sure "hook event" is unchecked, so that the first action will not run)
Globiflow 3 - when "unhide" is selected, set Field B = Field C
FYI - if running any formulas from this field, use Field C in the formulas.
Definitely not a neat work-around as you will need a large number of flows to hide multiple fields - but hopefully this helps until we find another solution! -
Hi James,
Thank you for contacting us here with your request! My deepest apologies that we currently do not offer this feature in Podio. However, what I have done is to update our feature request list to include your comments and concerns with regard to it.
While we do not have an estimation as to when we would expect that to be rolled into the platform, I will definitely let our development team know that this is a feature that is greatly desired and would enhance your experience with Podio.
However, the calculation suggestions are wonderful and hoping that other members can utilize that method.
Have a safe and wonderful day!
All the best,
Dana - Podio
