    Hi Podio Users,

We are happy to share that you can now access your Podio Item Id in calculation field using token called "Item Id". It will be available as a text field just like Unique id (or App Item Id)

We have added some more features to make your experience with calculation fields pleasant! Check these our here: https://help.podio.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/9915376364178-Enjoy-a-better-calculation-field-experience-

    Thanks,

I'm making a link to a related item. It seems to work fine in my testing so far, just trying to make sure it isn't a fluke of numbering (I only have test data in there so far).

A simple way to get the item_id:
Add a text field and a Podio flow: When item created, update this item in text field with  item_id:
You can make the field "Always hidden" so nobody can change it and pull the item_id into the calc field
For existing items you can use Globiflow to add the item_id to the text field.

Hey Julio, I managed to get the external item ID through the inspect function in google chrome. You just need to select the item inside a related field in another app. Uploaded screenshot.

Hope it works out for you, I had just the same problem right now!

    Try @Unique id

Yes @Unique id works for this

But Unique ID isn't the same as item_id. Item_id you see when you click in item view Actions/Developer Info. And you cant't get item_id into the calculation field.

I'm curious as well - Unique ID is not the item_id?

You are correct @Unique_id is equivalent to app_item_id. I don't think there is a way to display item_id in a calculation. Why do you need item_id?

Andrew Grady - Now I am really curious. Are you saying that you have found a way to make a relationship to an item in another app by way of item_id in a Calculation, without requiring a relationship field on your main app?

Norah Shannon - no, sorry for the confusion. There does have to be an actual relationship field. When I said "link" i was referring to a hyperlink (<a> tag) to other items that are related by a relationship field. I'm trying to create a custom summary display of related items.

Hi...as the post below explains I need the "item_id" to pre fill a referenced item. How to obtain "item_id" via calculation??

    Thanks.

Yes, we also need to know an item_id in calculations. This is required to generate an URL to the webform with prefilled relationship fields.
    Regards, Eugen.

@rainer that seems to be expensive and painful; shouldn't this kind of things be baked in?

    Hi Jerome,

sure, would be nice to have direct access to the item_id in the calc fields. But at the moment we've no access to it. Cause I need the item_id for several use cases I use my workarounds.  But why do you think it's expensive and painful?  For all future items Podio flows do the job. Zero costs. For existiing items it costs Globiflow actions, right. But cause most of my Podio customers (I'm a Podio Partner) have Premium licence or a Plus and a higher GF account, it's no problem to add the item_id for existing items in the apps where you really need them.

Is this issue still unsolved? Isn't there a practical method?

Yes, still unsolved. You can get the Unique ID of an item only, but not the item id. The only method to get it is using Globiflow (as described in my comment above).

It's been 7 years since the first request of the item_id .... it's still unsolved?

Still unsolved yes. It's possible to set the item_id in a textfield via tools like Globiflow

It's a bit weird to need a second web page listening for new items creation and then duplicate the id in a editable attribute only to have access to one item attribute as the id. I see a lot of requests for the access to the item_id.... it should be easier the access to an item attribute as the id.
