I actually disagree with the way this one is requested. In my view of project management, a project will generally be assigned to a group that will generate tasks that a person is responsible for. In my view of this, it is good for a task to be assigned to a single individual so that way one person can be held accountable to that task. On the other hand if you're delegating a project to a group, I think you should consider creation of a new project that references the parent project so the group can be responsible for it. Or if you have multiple tasks that you want a group to be responsible for, assign it to the project leader with your list of tasks and have him/her delegate those tasks out to the responsible individuals. Just my vote on the matter.

@Jeff Buford. One of the great things I love about Podio is that it allows for different organizations to use it in ways that are unique to their work. I would definitely benefit from having this feature added, as I'm sure many others would as well. I don't see how adding this feature would affect the way that an organization such as yours would use Podio.

The tasks function is really a core function of podia that keeps our team organized and on track. Being able to assign a group of people to collaborate on a particular task would be a very welcome update. Thanks!

Thanks for sharing feedback and input guys!

@Brad, I am happy to hear that you are already using a regular app for tasks, and I also see why you would miss some of the general functionality from the tasks in the top blue bar.

A good tip for everyone reading this could be to use an "Event" app as a task app since this will enable you to set reminders and repeats, learn more about using a task app and event app here:

I hope the tip above can help a bit, although it is not a full solution to the idea you have :)

Yes, I would love a workaround for this. I'm using Podio right now as a workspace for managing a major overhaul with a client and the adoption process has been an uphill battle.

This task assigning to group leads to even greater usability impacts...

We had to build a app for managing files better than just adding to each project item (which could lead to duplicate or mismatched versions across projects that use the same file). (Stay with me, this does tie into the standard workaround given for this and other task requests).
I can suppress the App allowing files to be attached at creation, but then I discovered this didn't suppress the ability to add files to comments on each item, so this has caused a lot of confusion. Having to train users that they have to ignore standard prompts/features all over the platform is not helpful.

Progress was made on some of that, but then we all realized that we can't break out project specific tasks using the standard tools because many of the starting tasks for each project involve a group evaluation/decision.

So now I'm trying to design a task app that will allow "assigning" a task for a project to groups or individuals (along with sequencing, but that's impossible to view as a sequenced list from a project -since the lookup orders by creation date, not title order if using a leading number, or order by sequence field then a title.. That's a whole different problem). Sorry, related tangent.

But even if I get a design set to be passable, the problem is now there is an even more commonly occurring standard platform function of creating tasks, that the clients have to learn to 'just ignore'. Standard add Tasks prompts can't be suppressed from any level of the Podio platform, and yet the recurring suggestion from support is to make a new app to duplicate something that already exists. If we have to re-build a standard function of the platform, there should be an ability to suppress the standard function (or re-associate the 'Add' whatever button to link to the custom app instead).

I upvote any request like this I can find, but they all have a small handful of votes because they are spread out over so many forum sections. I hope someone at Podio is actually consolidating the votes found from the same topics. And if the workaround provided means these requests will not be considered sooner, then at least give us the ability to block the standard functions that we have to rebuild ourselves?

@Sara, Thanks for your response. I just finished making your suggested adjustment to my task app. Now if there was only a way to easily complete tasks that would remove them from the list and calendar without deleting it or having to modify the title and due date.

I can assign more than one person to a task, but then it is as if it is multiple tasks instead of one task assigned to multiple people -- so shows on the calendar multiple times.

I would like to see this added. It's very important and seems to be a common feature among podio competitors.

We need this. Considering how much flexibility is inherently in podio and how unopinionated it generally is, this is very much a missing 'table stakes' feature. Please add.
