    I had the same need and made a ugly but working hack. It uses a Userscript. Depending on your browser you may need a plugin for this. For chrome I use tampermonkey. Here is the script: http://pastebin.com/sG4Z9kr7

    Thanks for the script. It's great for me, but deploying this solution everywhere we need it is a lot of trouble. I just hope one day we will get what we want ;)

    did you know that you can do:
    <S>
    browse to the app with <UP>/<DOWN> keys
    then <SHIFT>+<ENTER>
    this will create a new item.

    but yes a single shortcut while within app would be awesome.

    @Wizfactory,

    If you hit G, type a few letters (usually 1 or 2 is enough) of the app, and then use Shift+Enter you are straight into creating an item. Hope it helps :)
