I would love to see this happen. Let's chat to see what we can do to get this going. The more efficient the better!

This would be a helpful feature for us!

    +1

And the fact that you cannot move comments in any way (even after copy pasting all the rest, or going through excel) is also proving problematic for me.

Actually, if this was all in excel, you could easily import it. But no Podio-to-podio import :(

It would be nice if Podio could import from its own apps. I mean, when moving your data, you will always have to define which field goes where. Maybe this could be saved as a template, so that future moves can follow the same structure.

We would be interested in this feature as well. We have a need to move items between apps in different workspaces, and it would be nice to retain all of the comments.

*** A call to forum moderators, I think u should regroup similar requests into one, otherwise doesn't seem fair for a voting process. If we vote for a request in 2 different places the result is not the same than regrouping all the votes in one same place. ***

This request already exists here with (at the moment) 9 votes: https://help.podio.com/hc/communities/public/questions/200968876-Clone-app-with-comments-move-app-entirely

I've created a request to unify similar requests into one in order to create a fair voting process: https://help.podio.com/hc/communities/public/questions/203054287-Unify-similar-forum-requests-to-create-a-completly-fair-voting-process

Hello people out there that would like to automatically clone data between Podio APPs.
This can be done very effectively with a Podio partner APP called Zapier. Zapier allows data transfer between a large number of popular apps including between Podio Apps (www.zapier.com). You can trigger data copies within Podio using Category Field "Commands", explained below.

In our company we use Zapier "Zaps" to trigger automatic data transfer as follows:
    1. From a customer master database APP (In a Marketing workspace) we "Zap" to create a Lead in a Laed APP in a SALES workspace. We created a category field in the customer database app called ACTION, when ACTION=CONVERT TO LEAD the Zap grabs the contact data in the contacts app and copies it across to lead to create a new lead, it happens within a few seconds. The user then just needs to enter the lead details
    2. Convert a Lead to an Opportunity - in our company an opportunity is a much more complex APP than a Lead and contains relationship links to many other APPs - such as multiple customer contacts (lead has just one), Customer Issues library, Probability History, competitors, quotations etc
    3. Copy Google contacts contact to Podio Customer database. We trigger this using a special google contact group (Copy to Podio). We actually use a another third party app called PieSync to get contacts from Google Contacts to a staging app called Piesync and then a POdio --> Podio Zap to copy that data automatically to our customer contact master app.
    4. Copy "Contact Us" contacts - people that contact us via our website into a "Contact Us" app. If we judge those new contacts to be valid we use a category ACTION to move the contact detail automatically to our master contacts database. You can see this in action on our website at www.growth-in-focus.com have a look at the "Work for Us" link on the home page.

You might also want to check out Globiflow which allows many other workflow possibilities. For example, if someone uses the "work for us" link on our website, We have Globiflow setup to send them an automatic email containing details of the next steps in our candidate process.

In Summary Podio + Zapier Zaps + Globiflow = an amazing ERP system with CRM, Marketing Campaigns, Quoting and Accounting, training Database, Plus, plus, plus - that you can configure yourself entirely.

    I hope this helps

Mike - thank you for your answer. Can Zapier include the "Comments" section of a record when converting a "Lead" to an "Opportunity"?

If so, how do you implement it? thank you!

James - I do know that Globiflow for Podio does this. It doesn't take the 'old comments' and paste them in the new comments section but it will paste them into a field that you set up (I have a multi-line text field in the new app called 'Old Comments' that copies and pastes the old comments).

I agree!  Being able to move items from one app to another would be extremely useful

I agree this feature seems like a no brainer. I have lost data that I missed copying when doing this manually by recreating the item and deleting the old item.

Any update on this request? Here's my use case: we have a backlog app where we post the future ToDo stuff, and things to fix. When planning the next iteration/project period, I'd like to move the backlog item to the Task app to assign it and set the deadline. It would be so helpful to move an item or duplicate it, instead of recreating the same thing in a different app!

    Hi Julie,

You can actually do this with the general workflows, so have a workflow to move your backlog item to a task app when a certain condition is set. Here is a video to show you how: https://help.podio.com/hc/en-us/articles/201194467-Automating-workflows

The current workflows won't copy the comments though - only the data in the fields of the item and files attached.

Let me know if this helps?

Indeed, Zapier should not be required for such functionality.

I was able to do this easily through Globiflow. I made a flow that started when i made a comment in the old app "transferring into new app". This triggered all of the fields to be transferred into whichever new fields I wanted. Pretty quick fix!
