How do I change item owner?
I've imported thousands of items into an app via Excel import. This makes me the "owner" of those items. I'd like to grant others the right to delete those items by either letting anyone delete them or by making somebody else the owner and thus giving a specific person the right to delete them.
How do I do this?

Hi
I also would like to second this request. We have a use case where users can create items in an app (let's call it "reports"). Obviously, they become owner of the new item. The owner entity is then used in further precessing of the "report" item.
Now we have extended our setup by adding a workflow in another app (let's call it "tickets"). This workflow can create "report" items when certain conditions are met and the workflow is triggered by a user (user a) who works with the tickets app. However, due to the way Podio currently works the "report" item is created and owned by the "tickets" app. Now I'd really like to have the means to change the owner of the new "report" item from "tickets" app to "user a". I believe this is a quite fundamental function which is really lacking in Podio. -
Hi Volker,
Thanks for sharing your feedback on this!
When an item is automatically created via a workflow, it will be created by the flow and not a person as such. Just so I understand your specific situation 100% here: is the issue you feel that you are stumbling across that you'd like other members than workspace admins to be able to delete these items?

Hi Charlie
I think the actual problem is how Podio handles the owner/creator scheme. As mentioned by other users in this forum it makes no sense that an item in Podio cannot change its owner.
Utimately what I need (and I believe other users also) is a possiblity to change an items' ower. For several reasons:
1. Clear assignment of who owns/is in charge of what item in Podio. Of course there's a work around where you add a separate contact field in an app and you designate it the "owner" role. But this feels to me like a wok around/reinvention of the wheel. The owner ship management is there in Podio. It's just that you can't edit it. If you can set the owner it is clear on who's allowed what to do: the owner can delete an item and the workspace admin (obviously) and that's it. Straightforward.
2. Easy sorting/filtering in reports with "owner" as criteria. Today, I can easily sort/filter items which are created /owned by me. But items that are created by a workflow will be missed as they are created and owned by the app.
3. Having the possbility to set the owner allows to run workflows where a new item is created and assigned a "real" user, not just the app that runs the workflow. Well, if the workflow will allow to do that in the future ;-)Just my 50cents
Regards
Volker

So again it seems many people would need a feature, but only 3 people are eager to hit the "vote" button... :-/
How will we make sure the Podio team considers this feature useful then?
@Podio: perhaps you should have a hint somewhere that people should vote up or hit a "I have the same problem" button. -
@Volker so I was hitting the nail that Podio should improve UX here I guess g
on the left of every post you find the number of people who have voted for it and next to it you see the up/down buttons. Up adds a vote to a post and helps to bring visibility to it. So basically if you have the same issue as the original post or want to support some point you should upvote that post.
