Share Whole App With People

You know how you can share an individual record in an app with someone, right? Is there a way I could share the whole app with someone, and not give them access to the workspace?

Many of our discussions at my organization lead towards wanting to share just an app... not the workspace, not the particular item, and not wanting to relocate the app because of all the other dependencies we've already built between workspaces. So we run into this problem a lot and would love to see the feature added.

Totally agree this is needed! There is another topic which seems to be exactly the same but with a few more votes than here, might be worth everyone here adding their vote to this one if they haven't already, could get this pushed a bit faster!

This would be ideal for our company as well. We are looking at using the Contacts option to collate all of our various supplier / customer / business partner contacts, but in order to preserve security (not everyone needs to access every single type of record) we need to be able to share apps or even share just a view (without being able to access the rest of the app).
For example, customers may have personal contact details - or emergency contact details, which need to be seen by some people but not all. Or developing business contacts - we may have details which are only relevant to two or three people.
If we could share just the app and not the workspace, we could have multiple apps and share the ones you need to see. If we could share just a view (where you can edit / add contacts as well, but only within your view type) then we'd only need one app.
For mailshots, for general contacting of the different types of people we work with - having multiple workspaces for contact lists would be simply unworkable. All in one app or multiple apps in one workspace, with limited access per staff member, would be perfect. I have worked with other databases which can do this, it should not be hard for Podio to add this functionality.

Did Podio ever implement this request. I see the request has been around for 6 years and that the time the dev team was busy working on other priority items which is understandable. I am hoping after 6 years this ticket made it up to the top of the scrum board and has been completed. Please let us know if this will ever be implemented. Thanks

My deepest apologies that we currently do not offer this feature in Podio. However, what I have done is to update our feature request list to include your comments and concerns with regard to it.
While we do not have an estimation as to when we would expect it to be rolled into the platform, we will evaluate this and determine the best way to go about implementing it for a possible future update.
Unfortunately, I do not have any information about our future releases that I could share at this time. It would be something of advantage to us all and a great addition on top of the other security features we've implemented recently.

Has this been done yet, and if not, when will it be released? This request was made 9 years ago, and lots of people during those 9 years have said it is a critical, essential feature. The same feature has been requested in many other message threads, including at least one thread that had many more votes than this one. Combined it's a huge number of votes.
This feature is foundational to a large percentage of companies and organizations because it's common to not give various categories of users (freelancers, new hires, clients, volunteers, etc.) access to viewing 100% of the things in an entire workspace. There are lots of types of info that are important to keep private such as intellectual property, new business ideas, financial information, negotiations with potential partners, pending decisions about new hires or promotions, and many other things.
The last time we tried to use Podio several years ago, this was a primary problem that made it not usable, and we gave up on Podio. We're now considering moving to a new PM / workspace app, so I searched the message boards for info about this, and I don't see anything. If Podio has gone for 9 years without adding the most basic features like decent user permissions and still don't have a timeline for its release, it might mean the app doesn't have a real future. Other apps are making big strides and regularly adding functionality.

As other no code / low code apps and platforms (like Notion, Monday, Coda and Clickup) regularly add new features and also improve their existing features in various ways, and those companies raise large amounts of money from investors in order to improve and grow, it seems like Podio is on its way to becoming obsolete. From what I can tell from doing some testing, those companies have leapfrogged ahead of Podio, often in just a few years time. In another few years, it seems they will be even further ahead of Podio by another order of magnitude unless Citrix decides to seriously invest in Podio and improve it. I would think Citrix would do that given how big the market for these things are.
Most of the other apps above have gotten new investments of between $30 million and $50 million, and have huge market caps (aka valuations). And most of them started from scratch. Citrix didn't start from scratch with Podio - it had about 50% of the features that those other platforms now have. So Citrix didn't need to go from 0 to 100 - it was and still is already half-way there, maybe even 60% of the way there. They could have been competitive and still could be competitive while spending less than the new competitors.
But my impression is that Citrix better start seriously investing in their product in the next 3 to 10 months, or they could be so obsolete that people never give them another try. Kind of like what happened with MySpace after it fell far behind Facebook. We haven't used Podio in over two years, and now we're planning to heavily adopt one of the other platforms. Once we've invested the time and money in getting set up with the new platform, we probably won't switch for 5 or 10 years.
I wish Podio the best. I really would like to see it be successful.
