It is frustrating because it should be optional like any other "tile" or "widget." In some cases, it is useful but in many cases it occupies screen real estate that would be better used for other dashboard type elements.

I think part of the reason it is given such dominance is Podio's focus on incorporating features and styles that work for social environments like Facebook at Twitter into work processes. That is great for people for whom it works well.

What is puzzling to me is that so much of Podio is built around giving the user flexibility; I cannot understand the insistence and design principle that the Activity Stream must fill half the screen of a user's home screen or workspace home screen whether the user finds it to be a useful element or not.

    Hi Sara,

I understand that offering 'flexibility' to the activity stream might represent something of a project, but for those of us that have no use at all for it, can't you simply allow us to delete it altogether. Isn't that just a simple bit of Code ?

+1 would like to be able to move the activity stream or minimize it. Takes up too much space.

Just adding another voice here. More customization would indeed make sense regarding the activity feed, though I understand about priorities.

    • 1 this is really a high priority for us.. we have no use of the Activity feed and it's polluting or dashboard..

@ Sara - thanks for following up with this.

I hear your point on trying to improve it, but why not give us the option to remove it/hide it in the meantime. It really doesn't make sense to adversely impact our user experience and force us to use something we simply have no use for and don't want.

Alternatively, could we have the option to create a dashboard view that would only be made of tiles from different apps? i.e. like the 50% to the right of the activity feed, but a full page like that. We would then just put the activity view at the end or hide it all together..

The activity stream should be like any other tile - giving the usder options to remove, resize or replace with something else if required.

+1--I find the activity stream very distracting. It prevents me from using podio to the fullest.

I really, really do not see any use for the Activity Stream, as I am the only person using this program i.e. not part of a Team ... How about giving us the option if we want it or not?

+1 - The Activity Stream should be just as optional and adjustable as all the other tiles.

I'd like to see an activity stream that is more focused on activity, more condensed in it's layout. Right now so much space is taken up by the item title and then the files attached to the item (why the files?). I'd like to see it more like the comment/activity stream that is in the items. As it is now I do alot of scrolling to crawl through the activity stream and get to what is actually happening, especially on a day with lots of activity. Thanks for listening!

In response to Kevin Greene and all others: I'll use Podio when they get rid of the Activity Stream. It makes the entire product unusable.

You're wasting your time. This company doesn't listen to its users or potential users.

Deleted this app 2 years ago.

Just out of curiosity, Sara, how many comments have you had about the Activity Stream and what percent have been positive? Over what span of time? Please include those that have been directed both to this post and to Support independently.

We use tbe browser's bookmarks for Podio's pages as a way to avoid the Activity Stream altogether, so haven't used the Workspaces menu in years.

None of the users here are suggesting that you remove the Activity Stream from folks who find it useful, or from new users who might find it so. It should be simple for you to offer the standard page with the Activity screen, and offer a means to hide or modify it, with an automatic feedback as to the number of such pages which performed either action, at which point you would have a real sense of its utility to your users, rather than wondering how many share this sentiment without speaking up.

We use the emails on the right to communicate, and they can be hidden.

What if the activity stream had this option? Hide when working on other things, open as needed, ability to set the default for each workspace to open or closed. You should be able to tally the defaults and see how folks prefer to work.

+1 It is 2019 now... I am a further client/user wishing there was a possibility to hide the activity stream. It is not useful at all for me and rather annoying, as I would rather focus on what is important for me... Thank you!

It's been years (specifially 6 on this particular thread). Is there ANY update on this? It seems there is a collective group of users who would like an enable/disable option for the activity stream side panel. Or even have an option to resize since it takes up WAY too much space.

    Has this been forgotten?

I agree! Esp with so many laptop users - only MOST USED areas should be on-screen during use.

The AS is too much 'administrative overhead' (to use Edward Tufte's term.
