HTML/JavaScript Sidebar gadget

Hello Podio,

More and more I run into complicated ways to add a bit of functionality. One great thing would be to make a sidebar gadget, where we can use our own JavaScript/HTML to communicatie with our own services. The only interesting thing would be the current Item/App/Workspace the gadget is running in. With this info, we can make several things happen:

• Send emails to items using templates.
• Copy items to other apps.
• Do more advanced calculations.
• Create reports out of items.
• Initiate hooks by clicking a button instead of having to change a category to trigger it.

etc etc.

This bit of freedom could make Podio really stand out and will cover lots of little issues. It could also boost developer activity. High quality gadgets could lift Podio a lot.

The gadget only communicates with our own system, which does the appropriate Podio actions, and returns data to the gadget. This way, the gadget never communicates with Podio directly and is safe, no matter what. It is just a display, where the Item id is available.

  HI, Agree with your needs. I am also looking for
  "email" ... send a email out of a item
  "advanced calculations" ... at least percent, some constant fields
  "trigger" .. if Value of field, if date is reached, if item is created and so on.
  Some of this functions could be bought from third parties like "podiomail" or "podioflow" (tx to Andreas Huttenrauch), but this adds up costs and security concerns (about data redirected, etc..)
