Building an App: Default values

What about having fields in an App getting default values?

A date field = now for example?

A contact field = a special member or (even better/more handy) the current user?

  Agreed - and in addition, a read-only option would be good.

  My use case is that i am creating appointments in peoples calendars through an app to indicate when they are working from home - the subject always needs to be "WFH" for reporting reasons. It would be handy if i could set this as a default value and then make it read-only (or even hidden).
