    Dear Podio Users,

Thank you for upvoting this feature request over the years. Since so many of our users requested this, we couldn't miss it! Happy to announce that Delete Podio Chat Messages feature just went live! You should now be able to delete chat messages from the Conversations page.

Hope you enjoy this feature. Let us know your feedback!

    Thanks,
    Sumedha - Podio Product Manager

+1 -- it's not just mistakes. The whole idea of a 'zero inbox' is a very well-established protocol for managing a huge amount of messages. Why not allow us to archive unneeded messages?

    Hey guys,

Currently the chat works like other instant messages/sms/emails etc. If you send a SMS or email by mistake you cannot delete it and take it back. Same behavior works with Podio messages, when you send a message you cannot take it back.

It sounds like you all mostly are looking for a function to hide your own chats, not colleagues. Currently it works so old chat messages will automatically be archived in your list and new chat messages will appear first. So it will "automatically" be archived and new messages will appear first.

Would you like to see a separate folder to locate those messages? Or would you prefer to delete them from your list completely (even if not deleted for colleagues)?

Also, would you expect a recover functionality similar to email?

No current plans here short-term, but we really appreciate your feedback and input on this.

    Thanks for sharing :)

You can't delete it and take them back in other instant messages/sms/emails but you can certainly delete them. I can't think of one service that does NOT allow you to delete chats or messages.

Again, you are ignoring a lot of people and, in my opinion, upsetting a lot of people who are requesting this feature. It's not like we're asking for an overhaul of your system.

You guys generally have fantastic customer service. It really bothers me how you guys just pretend like this isn't important to people and just dismiss. Ever hear of "Show, Don't Tell"?  Show us you appreciate our feedback...don't just_ tell us_.

+1. Working on a Student NGO which has institutional emails linked to PODIO and whose Team changes every year, it makes no sense to have to resort to emails and other platforms to communicate privately when there's a chat platform already on PODIO for this BUT doesn't allow to delete conversations.

Agree completely, started chatting without realizing I could not delete or hide old chat texts and now that is cluttering everything up. Oh well. Kind of ridiculous in this day and age. Otherwise a pretty slick piece of software and we've test driven a bunch.

+1.. and them some! Lets get this function implemented.. just a simple way to not have to look at messages the user deems as archivable or old, so we don't have to see them in our chat feed.

Agree. We've have people who have left the team but the ghost of their chats still haunt us.

Reposting from here: [https://help.podio.com/hc/en-us/articles/201020148-Using-Messages-Chat?page=3], we are constantly being told how much the team " appreciate your feedback and input on this.". Just not enough to do anything about it? 9 months later. Why even pretend that feedback would be acted upon? Is refusing to allow the deletion of messages part of a massive data collection exercise (like google or facebook?).

+1 The ability to delete old chats is a must for us too. In particular, we need to remove chats that occurred with persons who are no longer with our organization.

I agree with others that this is a very simple feature to ask for - that it should take this long to implement is ridiculous!

It's also like SMS where you want to sort out messages you don't care for including old ones and maybe keep messages that are somewhat of importance. You want to be in control of your conversation box. Sometimes you want to look for a particular conversation but you need to sort through it all just to find that one message. This is the reason why deleting chat messages is important. It will save us a lot of time rather than consuming a lot of time searching for one measly message

@//Sara After using Podio extensively I can confidently say that the inability for a user to delete chat messages has been very important as an Enterprise class platform. It would however be convenient to be able to hide the messages or as a SuperAdmin be able to access/archive the messages of other users. To all the users requesting this feature, would it be helpful if we could "hide" a chat, label them different colors, "pin" specific chats to the top and generally be able to organize all the chat threads (some of us have reached hundreds)?

It makes no sense that you can't delete chat messages from people who have left. I don't want reminders of conversations I've had with people I've fired!

Love a lot about Podio, but you guys have a few blind spots that you absolutely refuse to address despite being asked by many, many users. Why is this??

    Hi Erin,

Sorry to hear about your frustration on this. As my colleague Sara explained earlier in this thread, the chat works like other messages services in the way that you can not delete them from others history when sent. The old messages will however place themselves in the bottom of your list automatically and will not be seen after using the chat for a few more messages. I hope this will help?

There are no immediate plans on a delete function but your vote is added and it might be something we'll take a look at in a later state. Thanks for your feedback!

@//Charlie Not even a little. Both of you refer to "delete them from others history when sent." No one is or has ever been asking to delete messages from others history when sent. No one is or has ever been asking for a recall function. The move to the bottom function is too slow--I want that person off my list NOW. There's absolutely no reason for this blind spot you guys have, as indicated by the fact that rather than actually address the question asked, you address something no one asked for.

Please provide a list of the message services that don't have a delete conversation function. Seriously. Because there isn't one... Let's start here: https://support.google.com/hangouts/answer/3112001?hl=en

    Your turn.

Same here... Come on Podio team... The answer that you cant take messages back was total BS. You HAVE to make it so chats arw deleted. It is very weird to bave some awesome solutions and some really ridiculous setbacks all in the same place.

This not being able to clean up your chat is just ridiculous - as a podio user. I have repeated this many times, when you see something doesnt work and many people tell you its not working, just fix it! Things pile up if you dont and people leave you simple as that. Two years and you still havent done anything - really? Some update on this would be great...

I can leave group chats, but I cannot remove old 1 on 1 chat feeds. There are several changes in the make up of our team and i have about 5 conversations sitting there, in my way, cluttering up my screen where i am talking to people who actually still work with us. There is no way to make a conversation, that will literally never be looked at or used again, go away? If so, why?
