Hey Brian, you could use the Google Maps type field for this. When you map this to the location your location that you put in for the meeting in Podio will follow to the location field in Google calendar for example.

    Hope this works,

    Yes this is perfect.

The trick is that when you customize the calendar setup in the app editor, the mapping for this field is not shown unless you already have a Google Maps element.  It would be nice to show what fields can be mapped even if you have none currently so as not to have to stumble over the hidden options.

PS: I'm a bit active with your support dept and making feature requests, but I have to tell you I really love Podio. I have been looking for a good solution for our company for 3 years, and have experimented with many.  I am moving our office to Podio and we are all pretty excited about it.  A few tweaks we'd like to see in the future, but overall I like the simplicity and customizability of things here.  Great work!

This is a HUGE problem. You are forced to use Google Maps for the location field so you are beholden to Google Maps as to what data you can put in the field. Like a lot of businesses and organizations, we have appointments over and over again in the same buildings. Not being able to put in and format the data that we need to put in, Room numbers, Judges, is problematic. I've even taken to typing words with spaces between letters like t h i s to try avoid it from attaching randon irrelevant maps matching the data I'm putting in.

Why can't you just have a simple text field so we can put in the data the way it makes sense to us—not to Google Maps.

Sure, it's neat that you can attach a map and integrate Google Maps, but having that as the only option causes problems.

Why not have attaching a map be an OPTION, instead of the only way to enter info in the location field of a calendar entry? I'm sure everyone would appreciate that very much!

I'm reviving this old post with a related question. I would like to map podio fields to google calendar fields (similar to excel ss mapping). Brian, it appears that you are/were able to map fields, but I cannot find where in podio this can be accomplished. Currently, it appears that random fields are mapped to the google calendar description, which is where I was thinking of mapping to. The goal is to add the result of a calculation field to google calendar. Any advice would be great.

I'm back to this as well.  As our use of Podio has matured, we're starting to migrate frequently used objects into new apps.

so, in the old day every training day would have a location, contact person, contact phone, etc... now we put those items into a "Building" app, and just link the building to the training through a relationship.

Using compute fields, we can then put nice summaries into the training app with Javascript. It's great.

Except when syncing to calendar, we can't pick which fields map, so I can no longer get my location fields (which are now calculated) to sync.

this would be so nice if we can could control the calendar mapping.
