    +1 for gantt

The calendar function could have, apart from the month, week and day, a "gantt view".

I have been searching around for a new cloud based project management tool, found Podio, thought: "Great! This might simplify everything!" and then found out there is no Gantt or visualization. Well, so much for using this software. Why is this not prioritized to implement? If you want to reinvent how people plan projects, fine, but my recommendation, to keep yourselves afloat, is to add Gantt charts first so you don't experience mass user exodus. Remember your clients are project managers here. There are TONS of people above me here asking for a Gantt, and I am asking the same. Look, you guys have made an awesome product with a fatal design flaw here. I'd say make a Gantt absolute top of your priority list or risk losing tons and tons of users. This is like building a high-end sports car without a windshield, or something like that. +1 for Gantt!

Thanks for your message Jacquelyn, I found this tool already. However, I think it is not providing full funcionality (i.e. a Gant Charts visualizing all projects in all workspaces).

Also, it would be great to have something like this included directly to keep our project management in one spot and not scattered around different websites.

    Thanks and Best, Maiko

Can we just accept that this isn't going to happen just because users request it?

I can't be the only one who sees that the reason there's never any justification to accompany the "we have no plans" statements is that there is a business relationship that is being prioritized over the desires of end users.

This is all my hypothetical speculation of course, but if I wanted to keep my price point competitive, I might carve off a key feature and sell it via a separate channel, resulting in the cost of the tool being perceived as lower.

In a world of truth in advertising, Podio prices may be asterisked with the note 'Gantt charting sold at extra cost and unnecessary  complication to you".

My feeling is Podio will never implement a Gantt even tho users are asking for it. I don't think Podio's vision is that user focussed really, hence no new features, tiny uninteresting updates and no roadmap. That said Podio still one of the most unique CRMs out there. I've been using ClickUp, sadly not a Podio alternative, but they have an amazing roadmap and implement new features and requests monthly. Something that the Podio team should learn from.

How many serious project manager Podio customers does it take to request something for this long?? Gantt is essential to making Podio truly useful. The 'Cards work-around' and the 'BendixKiel app' (although honourable) are poor offerings. We need to be able to see Projects, with filters for sub-category Deliverables and associated Tasks, integrated within Podio, not externally linked. Podio - you will surely win more business from others holding back til this becomes a reality, plus reinforce the buy-in from us existing customers before someone else comes along with a better solution... it's a no brainer. How do we get this request up the priority list? Come on Podio!

Podio, please consider building native Gantt chart ability into the software. Without this, managing long term projects with time sensitive milestones is like trying to cross a country without a map or GPS! It can be done, but through much difficulty!

We would love to have that, because in smartghantt (extension for podio) there is no possibility to link more than one task on another task or milestone. Therefore it´s quite difficult to switch projects within a timeframe and other stuff like that.

Almost 4 years and no movement on this? Talk about a "f#ck you!" to customers, or potential customers.

Such clear case of putting business relationships before customer needs.

Like so many other people have commented, this addition would make Podio a slam dunk tool, but instead, a lot of people come away with the feeling "What!? Really!?"

Whenever I show this tool to a serious PM, the first question they ask is "where's the gantt feature? I can visualize all my project items on a timeline, right?"

Ahh, actually, no. You have to pay almost the same price per user on top of your Podio fees.

    Fail, fail, fail.

I did a search for 'gantt' on the forum here, and read every post that came up.

I read Is Podio being discontinued? in which an official response from Sara Høeg states:
... You're also correct Gantt Chart is currently the top requested feature in the Forum however please note this is only because we already managed to implement the top requested features from the past ... (June 22, 2015)

But after my initial joy, because I thought this would finally be considered to implement, I read Gantt Chart - will it ever be? which states: ... No plans in the near future as this is not on the current roadmap. Please follow this thread for any future updates ... (December 07, 2015)

@support:  Every official answer on this matter contradicts Be honest - also when saying no. Do you have any meaningfull response on this, please?

+2 years ago I was looking for another PM tool and stumbled upon Podio. I was amazed by it's flexibillity and abillity to customize. But after having trialed Bendix Kiel's gantt solution, I had to conclude Podio was the perfect tool I've always wanted to have if it would have a decent gantt solution.
So I moved on to Asasa+Instagantt. I'm happy I did, but I'm convinced implementing this essential PM feature would convince me and a considerable number of other potential users to switch to Podio, or at least give it a try.

Thank you for your reply Sara. To be clear, I'm not considering the official answers on this topic 'dishonest'. I can only applaud Podio's transparency and communication in general.

The specific part from Listening and learning I was referring to: "Explain why you won’t decide on anything for the next six months on a certain topic, be honest about that you might be in a position where you cannot share the roadmap, explain why you think a suggestion is a horrible, horrible idea (be nice). Real people wrote you a real message. The discussions from the things we don’t want to do have been some of the best as we get a chance to test our reasoning and get deeper into the use cases people are looking to solve."

So after having read all those posts about Gantt I feel the above quote doesn't reflect on the answers given by Podio support. As you stated yourself on June 22 and December 07, 2015 (I quoted you about this in my previous post): Gantt is currently the most popular requested feature but it isn't planned nor on the current roadmap.
In my opinion, the real people that wrote you a real message deserve a more elaborate reply.

In my search for an online project management tool that incorporates collaboration I was very hopeful about Podio. However I find that the Project app is more of a task list. It does not allow one to link tasks, to group tasks into products and visualize tasks in time. It seems for now Podio does not target the more professional take on managing projects.

I agree. I'm switching over to something else because of this. I'll be happy to come back if Podio chooses to offer a solution for visualizing the project workflow and timelines from a better perspective than the current calendar functionality.

Gantt chart is a basic requirement. Is there some funding required? Why not do it?

+1 for Gantt!!! Bendexkiel's limitation of seeing only one app at a time defeats the purpose for myself. I want to see, for example, all projects across all workspaces. Then I could truly organize and manage my time.

Another +1 for Gantt. Podio is so close to solving all my project management needs but Gantt could be a deal breaker.

    +1 for Gantt chart functionality.

Is citrix shutting podio down, or trying to chase everyone away?

You dont build successful businesses by ignoring your clients feedback, especially if its almost unanimous and been requested continuously for years.

If you go to the Citrix website, it lists Podio as a "flexible project management" platform touting "a new level of project visibility" (here: https://www.citrix.com/products/podio/overview.html)

It is this user's humble opinion that Gantt Charts are a necessary part of any project management application. Seeing how this is one of the most popular threads on here, why won't the devs add it to the road map?

We trialed Smartgantt and weren't really able to understand how to integrate it effectively. We couldn't figure out if we would have to create new apps just to track milestones?

At this point, we have decided to use SmartSheet for managing our Construction projects and Podio for managing our lead generation and contacts. It's not ideal, but it seems to work ok.

A Gantt chart feature would make Podio even more of a standout project management tool. The Partner software really hasn't been thought out that well, it's not user-friendly and having to use yet another website is also just annoying. Why wouldn't Podio implement a top requested feature that it's users have been requesting for 3/4 years! Seems odd to me.

    Thanks

We abandoned podio a long time ago for this reason unfortunately.  They have some sacred bond with their gantt chart provider.  Check out TaskWorld.

I have been using Podio for several years and love the flexibility.  However as I start to really create larger and larger projects the one thing that always is holding it back is the gantt chart views.  My business would have invested in well over 150 users or more in Podio if they could natively solve the gantt chart request.  Due to this many parts of the business are now utilizing Smartsheet.com they offer an excellent gantt chart view and have 90% of the same features.  Smartsheet also has a very efficient pricing model too, but that is besides the point.

It has been several years and I have always had great responses from Podio.  I only hope someone reads this and can give us feedback on the next 12 months of their product roadmap, becasue not having gantt charts (or at least dependencies (parent/child references) in an app item -  will be the nail in the coffin.  So even if you don't deliver on the gannt chart view, which I don't see why you would't, at least expose apps to be able to create a parent child reference in the app item.....otherwise Smartsheet.com will continue to grow and Podio will become something that "could have been amazing".  Right now it is just good, but not great.  Any feedback would be greatly appreciated Podio.  Cheers

+1 for native gantt charts.  I can't believe people have been requesting this consistently for the past 5 years and it's still not even being considered.  Gantt Charts are a pretty key tool for project managers and by extension for project management software!
