Add reminder option to date fields

I have an app where each employee is an item and we track multiple due dates (expiration of credentials, traning, etc).  It would be great if we could set up a reminder on the date fields so we get notified of the due date. The item alone in the calendar is not a failsafe system to track important information

    If you create the app as a Event app you can have the reminder - or create a task based on the date to set a reminder. It is not the full solution but it could work as a work-around.

    Yes, that is what we are doing now, we create a task for each due date we need to be reminded on

    Looking to have a system where in my CRM I can put a follow up date and the system reminds me on that day that I need to call a potential client.  I could put it in tasks but but a true tickler system in the communications calendar is better.

    I agree.  The date field most definitely needs a custom reminder added.  Creating a task is a workaround, however, if you "complete" the task by checking the complete task box (albeit by accident), the reminder is also removed.  Not sure how difficult this is add but other CRM systems has this feature.  Hopefully PODIO will add it but this is one crucial feature I require as I use it to remind me of Lease Expiration's, Birthday's and Anniversary's of my Clients

    A follow-up date would be most useful, the work arounds are fine but the ability to delete the task and then the reminder makes me nervous!

    @Sara Hoeg - will the calendar remind me if I set up a task using the end date's field data within the app as the due date, which was automated via WorkFlows?

    Hi Tony,

    Good question.

    If you add a task to an action via automated workflow, you will get a notification on the task created - which can function as a reminder. It is currently not possible to set a reminder to the directly in the automated workflow.

    yes that is pretty basic thing to do, how come podio with its flexible app building capability hasnt come up with that yet,
    as we reminder in tasks, the technology is there they should just make it available for all apps to include it in if someone needs it

    +1 Would also like to request this feature. We have many proposal deadlines stored in non-event apps that we would like to be reminded about beforehand.

    Yep, need this so bad. Please add it! The built in task system is just pants for teams so have to use an app and without a reminder option on the date field in apps it's just.... well.

    Even started scouting out competitor systems as it's becoming critical now.

    Come on, Podio has soooooo much potential but the resistance on these things the users obviously crave just seems bizarre. I know you have you roadmap all, umm, mapped out and for allow feature slip and reactionary development is never the way to go but some things just add so much value to a product.

    So, to re-cap:

    • if you need reminders, use standard tasks but you cannot report on them
    • if you need reporting, create custom app but you cannot user reminders

    Is there any way to do both?

    In the date option for apps there is a remind me, you should include a customize way to make a reminder (whichever date people want) as it only lets different options 24 hours before the date.

    I came to post this feature request, and as is the case every time, I'm disappointed to see that the feature has been requested for many years with no movement. This seems like such a basic thing for PM software, especially since it is already a feature used in Podio apps built as EVENT apps (see attached screenshot.) Why not just apply that functionality to all date fields instead of randomly limiting it to just apps built as event type apps?

    Couldn't agree more! I go to find a thread on my exact topic and sure enough it's been there....for years....with no movement. 

     

    I have called the parent company with no success. It's a shame! This software is so good, why not develop it and make it even better?!
