Bi-directional relationships

Hi,

In apps you can create relations with other records. Very handy of course. Now I run into the following. When I have a company and want to assign contacts I need to select those. Easy. But, if I have the contact open and want to link it to the company this is not possible using the same relation. 

Is this something Podio is willing to look into?

  Hi Rik,

  You just need to set up the app reference from both apps, so that they're both referencing each other. Then you can add the relation from either app.

  Hi Jacquelyn!

  I was dealing with this today, actually. It's not to much an inability to link from both sides, but the novelty that it'd be great for the link to be visible from both sides when created on one. I understand the complication, though, as you'd really need to add an extra checkbox (probably in Advanced) that opts for this to happen or not, as sometimes you don't necessarily want a child to be parent-aware.

  Thanks for the input Jason, much appreciated :) The app reference was built in just one direction and I don't think it will be changing anytime soon (it's a building block, so it would be complicated to add one building block and have it active in another app). I'll be sure to pass on the feedback though.

  I agree.  It is the data linked to the contacts that is most valuable. 

  I would like to recommend: 

  1. Ability to search and display applications contacts instead of the workspace contacts or link application data to contacts.

  I agree with Jason, it would be great to have  bi-directional links. Let's consider that this is how it works conceptually: a company has an employee, therefore this employee is working for this company.

  +1! An improvement in this direction would be great, esp. as podio suggests itself to work with contact-apps instead of the in-build and inflexible contacts-feature. This makes data-base management tricky.

  I understand it is not possible to have a bidirectional link. Does anyone know how to do this via globiflow?

  I succeeded in doing this for employees that work in one company, but if they work in multiple companies  I can not figure that out.
