Could someone please update us on the status of cloning workspaces. Is this something that Podio can introduce, because it is critical for my business.

I am brand new to Podio and just getting set up; cloning workspaces is one of the immediate things that I need to do. Disappointed that this isn't possible - and quite surprised. Podio, please take this one on board. We're still in trial and I can't imagine we'll start paying without this feature, replicating workspaces with customised apps would be a critical benefit for us, and horribly time consuming to have to build manually each time...

Just adding my two cents, would really like to see this feature as I need to create 10 workspace for different client jobs.

    Hey all,

Perhaps this new extension from our partner Phases can help you until we have a better solution from Podio: https://podio.com/extensions/51?

This can help you clone entire workspaces.

I was able to clone the apps, but not the workspace. But afterwards, the new workspace looks the same. So, I guess a few more steps, but got it done. Having a workspace clone definitely would be invaluable!

Has a thing been addressed? Cloning the apps is fine but it does work when they relate to other apps or you have a ton of workflows that each time you have to reset. I love polio but sometimes I feel the simple things and most common are not offered by podio. I hope this can be worked out, along with being able to upload more than one picture at a time via the app..

Putting in my +1 for this feature.  It was requested over three years ago.  Any update?

    Hi Matthew,

No update so far. We had great feedback from customers using this extension so far: https://podio.com/extensions/51

You might also not know, but you can share your apps from a workspace to your private app market, and use this to install the same apps in multiple workspaces. This solution is for the app templates only, not the content from the apps.

Hi Sara, looking at the suggested workaround of using the app market: How is it possible to easily modify an app package, e.g adding / deleting an app from the package as well as the template/settings of the apps themselves, such that it is not necessary to upload entirely new packages/apps (and retype name, descriptions etc.) when making some changes?

    Hi Tillman,

You can make quick changes to your app/app packs by going to the profile icon in the top blue bar, then "My shared apps". You'll see the option to make changes from there.

App market doesn't work if you also need to clone template data inside these apps, correct?

Jacquelyn - I went there and don't see how to make changes to the apps.  Can you elaborate here?  Two reasons I haven't used this method - I need to sometimes clone some data within these apps and second, I could never make changes to the apps without republishing them.  I can see how you can change the name etc. but I don't see where you can change fields or the app itself.   Am I missing it?  Thanks

Not sure what you mean by "clone template data"?

But for editing the app, you should see an "Edit App" link below the app, as seen here:

    https://citrix.sharefile.com/d-s2301fd71c134322b

    Does that work?

    Hi Jacquelyn,

Thanks for the suggestion. I saw that I can modify the apps. But when I do so, then save the app, and then download the app again, the changes are not being implemented, ie I again download the "old"/unmodified app. Is there an additional step to take?

And, how can I change the content of the packages itself, such as adding / deleting apps from a package?

    Thanks,

    Tillmann

Hmm that's strange, when I edit the apps from there I see the changes reflected. Can you submit a support ticket via "Contact us" at the top of this page and we'll look into it? It would be really helpful if you could record a quick screencast to show your process:

    http://www.techsmith.com/jing.html

As for adding/removing apps, unfortunately in those cases you'd need to re-share the pack.

Thanks Jacquelyn, I am in touch w/ the support team and they explore what is driving this behavior.

Regarding the packages, might it be a mid-way to allow users to modify company-internal packages? Similarly, when sharing a package to an internal app-market, maybe you can make all the explanation fields non-mandatory? The latter makes modifying packages a lengthy process. But either way, being able to simply clone a workspace from within Podio would still be by far the easiest, cheapest, and fastest solution.

Related to app clone functionality, has anyone figured out how to auto populate due dates based on another date.  We have recurring tradeshows that require the same set of deliverables for each event.  These deliverables are "due" the same lead time (e.g. 3 months prior to event date) for each individual event.  I'd like to not only clone the event, but also auto-update the due date for each deliverable (150+ deliverable for each event).  Another similar context would be publication dates (newspaper, magazine, etc).  Each edition would need similar deliverables.  Do you have to manually modify due date for each deliverable for every new edition?
